Lost all HD channels today, all were fine as of last night; 28/3/2015, on Craigkelly.
Most of SD channels still working (never checked higher channel as generally lower wattage output anyway), but notice reduced signal on still viewable channels than normal; loft aerial installation.

Live in North Bracknell with a loft aerial in our new property. Reception since we moved in December 2015 has been patchy. Only BBC channels (SD) and no ITV or Channel 4 at all. Yesterday following a retune, HD channels appeared and seemed to be stable but this morning all HD channels liable to breakup. Although Hannington would be the ideal transmitter for my location, I am actually picking up Crystal Palace.I have a booster which has helped improved the signal previously but perhaps now HD signals have appeared the signal is too strong. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Andrew Tegala:
If you look at the 'digitaluk trade' box below your posting, you will see that the signals from Crystal Palace on channels 22, 25 and 28 are listed as being variable. So it would be helpful if you could give an indication of the signal strengths reported (not the quality) as you could either have too much signal, possibly due to the booster, or maybe too little signal possibly due to the reported variable nature of reception of some signals.
It would also be useful to know what type of aerial you have in your loft and where it is aimed. For Crystal Palace you need either a Group A or log-periodic aerial and for Hannington you need a Group B or log-periodic. An aerial for group B aerial would not give reliable reception of the muxes on lower channel numbers from Crystal Palace. If the aerial is pointed at Hannington, bearing of 247 degrees, then the Crystal Palace signals are being received by that back of the aerial, which is never reliable. Crystal Palace bearing is 88 degrees at your location.
Further comments possible depending on your response.

Carole Harrison:
You are quite close to the Emley Moor transmitter, so you problems may be dues to excessively strong signals. Would you please check to see what the signal strnegth is on the affected channels at a time when they are giving problems?
A strength of bertween 50 and 70% is acceptable for most TV sets, anything above 80% is usually too strong and causes break-up of pictures and/or sound or complete loss of reception being reported at 'No Sognal' when it is in fact too much signals.
For more help, search for 'too much of a good thing' on this website.
