Freeview reception at CT4 5BU
For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.
You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.
You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.
These icons show the potential locations for 5G-at-700MHz services that may interfere with Freeview reception. For actual mobile device reception prediction (at 800-960MHz and 1710-2170MHz) see these phone operator's mapping sites: Three O2 EE VM

Hi, We are located at the east end of Dunbar and the only usable TV signal appears to come from way up north (which must be 90 miles away) over the North Sea from, I think, the Durris transmitter group. This is generally not a problem, however, the STV news and weather has nothing of local interest and on occasion, high pressure interferes with the signal. The biggest disappointment is not TV but DAB radio with BBC Radio Scotland dropping out for a minute or two at a time while all other DAB radio appears unaffected.
Is there any possibility of a future more local transmitter for the east of East Lothian or a transmitter in the East Nuke of Fife?

George: Your postcode is predicted to have good reception from Angus, Durris and Craigkelly transmitters and there are no plans to build any new terrestrial transmitters for the purposes of providing a different regional news program. BBC Radio Scotland is carried on local commercial multiplexes, with the Edinburgh mux predicted to be available at lower strength at your location than the national stations. Plans are expected to be announced for further expansion of DAB services once a closure date is set for FM/AM radio stations.

StevensOnln1:
The BBC have announced a few weeks ago that they will not be closing any FM services. So though DAB will be available, so will the current FM services.

MikeP: The BBC actually said that now is not the time to close FM services, they want to wait until a larger proportion of listeners have switched to digital of their own accord. In the long term, FM will close for all but very small commercial and community stations, just not on the previously suggested timescale of 2 years from digital radio reaching 50% (probably more like 5-10 years from now). See the article linked from A516digital below.

They have since issued a further statement rescinding the idea of turning off FM. They said it was because the rate of take up of DAB was too slow so they have ceased planning for the changeover. It was reported in several national newspapers.

MikeP: Please can you provide a link to this more recent statement? The link I posted from A516digital in March mentions the misleading headlines from various national papers about FM closure being abandoned, which is not the case if you read the statement properly.

hi,for viewers who have technical knowledge,is to replace the aluminum dipole in the aerial with copper wire dipole, this must be bent to look like the aluminum dipole and may improve reception,i have done this with a indoor aerial and got a locked picture from hannington at 10ft off the ground ,location nr bicester, but i stress u must have some technical knowledge.

N Mugford:
It is perfectly correct to replace an aluminium dipole with a copper one. However the dimensions are critical. So it would be better to carve an exact replica of the aluminium dipole in a sheet of copper, using the resultant item to replace the original dipole. The need to be an exact copy is to maintain the required frequency range coverage and the impedence presented to the TV set, always required to be 75 Ohms. It would also be wise to protect the copper against corrosion, especially if it were to be placed outside the property where it can get wet.

Having difficulty finding Channel MUX for new Paramount on 57. Our Sony DVR has to be manually retuned for every change, as it prefers distant Cumbria to our local Emley Moor transmitter.
can anyone help, please?
