Freeview reception at DD4+ 7UN

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

There are 4 mobile phone masts within 1.5km of DD47UN (page shows closest 10)

What do the map symbols mean?

EE,  Multiple operators,  O2,  3,  Vodafone,  location on line-of-sight,  Selected location,  Freeview transmitter,  Freeview light transmitter,  Engineering/fault today.

These icons show the potential locations for 4G-at-800MHz services that may interfere with Freeview reception at some point from 2013 to 2017 when the 4G 800MHz services start.

For actual mobile phone reception prediction (at 800-960MHz and 1710-2170MHz) see these phone operator's mapping sites: Three O2 T-Mobile EE Virgin

hi,for viewers who have technical knowledge,is to replace the aluminum dipole in the aerial with copper wire dipole, this must be bent to look like the aluminum dipole and may improve reception,i have done this with a indoor aerial and got a locked picture from hannington at 10ft off the ground ,location nr bicester, but i stress u must have some technical knowledge.

N Mugford:

It is perfectly correct to replace an aluminium dipole with a copper one. However the dimensions are critical. So it would be better to carve an exact replica of the aluminium dipole in a sheet of copper, using the resultant item to replace the original dipole. The need to be an exact copy is to maintain the required frequency range coverage and the impedence presented to the TV set, always required to be 75 Ohms. It would also be wise to protect the copper against corrosion, especially if it were to be placed outside the property where it can get wet.

Having difficulty finding Channel MUX for new Paramount on 57. Our Sony DVR has to be manually retuned for every change, as it prefers distant Cumbria to our local Emley Moor transmitter.
can anyone help, please?

Hi mikep, thank you for yr polite reply, other people seem to be otherwise,in my eperience in using insulated copper wire seems to be fine, the tv or whatevers input circuitry seems to uncritical,i use a set top single element because im in a swamp area from oxford, before i changed it to a copper wire,in spite of the high
field strength it was troublesome, when changed to copper, hannington at 40miles,10ft above the ground produces a locked picture, the only disadvantage of copper sheet is the cost and the work involved.Possibly,in poor signal areas copper would produce a better and more stable picture, its a pity someone in a fringe area cant try it and advise, but again some technical knowledge is needed,tks............

Banacek: this seems to be a problem with todays tv circuitry, the tuner gets pulled to the strongest signal,i have a car radio that wouldnt hold a weak signal in the presence of a stronger signal, possible realign aerial or more directive type fitted.
