My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I am having similar problems as Glen,Having followed your instructions on disconection procedures, wiping the freeview memory, and re-installing, I still cannot recieve east midlands news dispite my aeriel facing Nottingham. the signal strentgh is execellent on all channels but I can only get my freeview box to recieve west midlands news.
I have carried out the re-tuning procedure three times now and to no avail

Ray: When it is scanning, does it show progress by percentage ?
If so, then go through the procedure to wipe your box as before.
And then start it off tuning again, this time with the aerial plugged in. When it gets to 25% unplug it. When it gets to 58% plug it in again and leave it plugged in.
The aim is to have the aerial unplugged when it's scanning the frequencies that you don't want (West Midlands channels) and to have it plugged in when you do (East Midlands).

Dave, Thank you for your advice. I will give it a try and to give it a better chance of tuning in to the east midlands news channel, I will re-tune it at 6:30 when I know they will be broadcasting.
I don't know if it will be relevent re-tuning at that time but like Glen, I'm "clutching at straws" and getting ready to throw it out the window. thanks in advance anyway. cheers

Hatfield
Hi I live in Hatfield, AL10 9RX. Last Saturday 5th, I lost or had really bad reception on all freeview channels. I have an outdoor Aerial I brought & had installed less than a year ago. I think it is a good aerial & until saturday I had all channels perfectly. I have two TV's in two different rooms, both were effected but one got some channels which the other one did not receive. I rescanned & got next to nothing last week. I rescanned both again yesterday & now the one in the bedroom is only missing Multiplex 2 channels (itv, C4, C5, Itv2, E4, More4). Strangely the one in the living room gets even less channels. I can get ITV1 via anolouge, its a bit grainy but I get it. I installed another two way splitter but it did not make any differences. I have one years guarantee on the aerial Install. When I called them to ask them to come & look at it they said if its proved it is not an installation error I have to pay £40. I would like to ask do you think this sounds like an install problem? And do you have any other ideas I could try? Thank you.

Danny: Is the splitter indoors?
Are there long leads from the splitter to the TVs?
I suggest that you start by removing the splitter from the equation (just having one TV connected) and removing any extension leads (e.g. that run from one room to another). Of course, you may have to move your television temporarily in order to do so.
Looking at the analogue picture might be helpful. If it gets better, then you might have a better chance of getting digital. If you do get digital channels at this point, work from there: i.e. add an extension, see if it works, then add the splitter etc.
It might be that the digital signal isn't strong enough to stand being split (without being amplified/boosted).
The Digital UK predictor suggests that Mux 2 (on C22-) which carries ITV/C4 is probably the weakest out of all the muxes at your location.
A look on Google Streetview and Bing Maps Bird's Eye view shows quite a few tall trees behind the houses in Poplars Close, which is in the direction of Crystal Palace.
