My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Thanks Dave Lindsay and Mazbar. I have elected to go for the simplest option first - switching off the auto update! Found it after some searching in the menu... fingers crossed. Merry Christmas everybody

sharon jones: What transmitter is your aerial pointing to? If you do not know that, then what direction is it pointing in and what polarisation (horizontal or vertical)? The answer to why you can't get these channels depends on what transmitter your aerial is on.
For a picture of horizontally and vertically polarised aerials see here:

Have been unable to get ITV, Ch 4,5 etc for weeks. Have tried Freeview reset procedure.
Could get all channels until recently.

Sue: Which direction is your aerial pointing in?
Try manually tuning. If your aerial is at 328degrees (horizontal), then it needs tuning to Ch44 or if it's 237degrees (vertical) then it's Ch24.

We have a BIUSH Freeview recorder and last night it lost the EPG. It will find all the channels but no EPG hence we can't record things apart from by using the timer which is confusing as we then can't see what we have recorded as they are labelled "timer".
I have rescanned twice. Last week there was no info about the programmes but the EPG still worked - help anyone?

I have a Digihome tuner/recorder linked to a Sony TV and have not experienced any problems until the last digital upgrade. Every morning I have to rescan to get back some of the channels that have disappeared overnight.This includes channel 5.The aerial is a horizontal comb type pointing south and linked to an amplifier.I am in NR10 5LE. This is becoming so frustating. Can anyone help please?

Martin: Try a factory (or default) re-set on your device, as in many cases this is caused by the number of channels received exceeding the capacity of the boxes memory capabilities.

I have lost channel 59 completely, nothing has changed with my tv, I've not added any new equipment, not altered where the tv is positioned, the aerial, or anything else that should have caused the channels to have vanished over seven days. At first I thought it was down to the weather, as lets face it, digital tv ( signals) can get affected by almost anything. So I ignored the fact I couldn't get, yesterday, pick, really, challenge, Dave and food network. But now seven days later, I still can't pick these channles up and yes, I've tried a re-tune, and tried factory default, and nothing!
Has there been any changes over the last week or is the work going on somewhere that could affect the signals which were perfect until last week. I had all channels and even some new ones were showing up. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thank you.
