To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Same issue as N Cayley above - Bush BTU160DTR. EPG lost sometime yesterday, just says "undefined" when you try and browse.

There are messages in the inbox about a TUTV upgrade on 14/12 which makes me think its related. Unplugged all wires, left off for an hour, rescanned channels twice to no avail, all channels available just no EPG.

Ideas?

I live on the Surrey/Sussex border and having experienced the same recent signal drop-out problems as everyone else else in this strand, decided to ring Freeview direct - except you cant as they supply no number. Eventually I got through to a nice lady in ITV customer services who advised that anyone whose aerial picks up from the Hannington transmitter will have a spectacularly weak signal indeed until Feb 8, when Hannington is boosted. The signal weakened a couple of weeks ago for unexplained reasons but connected with the first phase of switchover. So all the retuning in the world won't make a difference if you rely on a basic Freeview box. Annoying for those looking forward to Xmas viewing but at least a cogent answer - and let's see if anything really does happen on February 8th....

I had a Humax HD recorder that worked perfectly well with an analogue TV and digi box. Now I have new Digital TV it's all gone wrong (generally the TV picks up a strong Oxfordshire signal - but I put the same aeiral into the Humax box it picks up a very weak signal - not suprisingly as it picks up the Beds nd Cambs reception) 1. How do I tell the Humax box to look for the Oxford signal? 2. I assume something 'bigger' is going on as the upstairs TV has suddenly started to pick up Cambridgeshire local TV. I don't mind paying for a new aerial if this is the solution but I assume it might not be.

c: Do you have a signal booster connected? If so, remove it.

If it's picking up the wrong transmitter (which the fact that it is the wrong regional programming indicates that it is), then manual tuning is probably the best method.

Before trying manual tuning, try running the tuning through without the aerial connected. Then run it through with the aerial unplugged. Plug in the aerial when it gets to 65%. Once you've done this, if you are missing the BBC channels, then manually tune to Ch53 to add them.

Get a new ariel to solve problems with getting ITV3, 5*, 5USA,ESPN etc all on Multiplex channel A.
Prior to switching off analogue last April, these channels were all OK and for several months afterwards. However since September they started to break up and then totally failed with a "No signal" on the TV. Although I am only 18 miles from the Wrekin transmitter, all previous advice about retuning etc was useless. I have now tried by replacing my standard ariel with a 48 element high gain one in the roof space and I have at last got these missing channels back. However this does make nonsense of advice given on the digital switchover that digital. transmissions would be increased in strength.

Hi,

Both my TVs keep getting really poor reception or losing Film4 - I'm in Suffolk and believe I am pointed at Sudbury. We are just on basic Freeview.

I've had a look and Challenge is completely fine, as is QVC, but we have no Yesterday.

Has anyone who knows about this sort of thing got any info or ideas? We should be getting BT Vision for a few months and don't know if that will rectify it or not?

Many thanks

Sorry that last post was unclear.... Film4 had been completely fine until recently and now it is poor (unwatchable) or not there at all.

All other standard channels I use are fine..

Hope that makes sense now.

Thanks

Maria: You're not alone!

Many people have been unable to receive the Arqiva B multiplex (signal) which carries Yesterday, Film4 and others. This is because it is at lower transmission power and will remain so until 27th June.

Pants!

Many thanks Dave. I'm virtually sitting on top of the transmitter too!

I am being a dullard on this (sorry) but I volunteered to trial BT Vision (!) so will it work then? Desperately want it back for Christmas :(
