My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

a: At Pontop Pike Digital TV this week is liable to interruption for engineering work in preparation for switchover. There is also the possibility of weather related interference from out of area transmissions, however I'm not sure if there are any transmitters remaining on air on C65 that could interfere with MuxC.

After a frustrating week (last) I reprogrammed using these steps today and all is right with the world again!
(in Hove/Brunswick area BN3)
One Note: We use the built-in digital on our Sony Bravia TV, and without any connection I could not view my EPG which is where the setup function is located... so I needed to begin the process of updating first, then unplug the aerial cable before it actually began in order to wipe the information. Apart from this, these steps worked a treat.

Terence O'Rourke: Sounds like single frequency interference. The current weather conditions are enabling signals to travel further than normal, so it is possible that you are receiving another transmission on the same frequency, most likely from Sandy Heath. If you have lost the channels from the channel list you will have to re-tune when the conditions change, otherwise wait and see if reception returns. If the problem persists do the usual checks on cables and connectors, and make sure that no equipment, such as a VCR or Sky box has the RF modulator set around C48.

I live in a flat NN14 6GW, new build with communal digital aerial; the service I receive in the bedroom is perfect,with all channles being received normally,however, my more modern TV and digi recorder in my living room do not receive all the channels? I have re scanned as detailed on your advice boards, but still cant receive all the channels. Watching TV is becoming stressful and un-enjoyable... if my living room equipment tunes into it one day and then loses it another day, what can be done to resolve this bizarre issue. Before analogue was scrapped I had no problems whatsoever!!!

Bryan: Some services are on low power from Sandy Heath and this will be the case until 9th May.
Services are broadcast in groups known as multiplexes. Each multiplex is a single signal, therefore if you will have the same reception issue with all services on the same multiplex.
There are five standard definition multiplexes and one high definition one. See here for a list of which services are carried in each:
DTG :: DTT Services by Multiplex
COM4/SDN is on low power until 9th May. Is this the one you are having issues with? If so, then there's probably not alot you can do other than try swapping the aerial lead with the one in the bedroom.
Perhaps the signal level coming down the aerial lead is around that at which your receiver fails to show a picture and therefore a tiny reduction makes it unable to resolve a picture.
Some devices have built-in signal boosters. If this is the case here, then there is nothing to be lost by trying it on for that multiplex until the transmission power goes up.
If you are watching the channel you're having trouble with on your TV and it disappears, you could try connecting the incoming aerial feed (from the wall socket) directly to the TV (instead of via the PVR).

Same sort of problems in the Hastings area, ITV channels missing intermittently, or breaking up too badly to watch - usually at peak time in the evening, wouldn't you know? - since last Thursday March 22.

steve M: Be aware that reception of C24 from Blue Bell which is Mux 2 (ITV1, Channel 4 etc) may have changed due to changes with other stations that use that channel.
On 7th March, the power of C24 from Reigate was increase due to Rowridge switching to digital. Rowridge uses C24 for its full power digital service and formerly for one of the analogue services.
Is reception not possible from Tunbridge Wells transmitter?
I put TN9 1SU into the predictor, and it suggests that reception will be excellent, even now, before switchover with the lower power signals:

steve M: Indeed, a four services (out of the six) of Blue Bell and Tunbridge Wells are co-channel until switchover!
- C59 BB Mux 1 / TW Mux D (both no offset)
- C42 BB Mux C (neg offset) / TW Mux A (pos offset)
- C39 BB Mux C (pos offset) / TW Mux C (no offset)
- C45 BB Mux B (neg offset) / TW Mux B (pos offset).
