My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been getting progressively worse reception for the following channels until late at night:
5+1, ITV2+1, Quest, 5*, 5USA etc.
They are pixelated and sound is broken but during the night it improves. All other channels are no problem.
Any answers or solution welcome.

Dave Hunter:
Do you know which transmitter your aerial is pointing at?
If it's the nearby Nottingham transmitter (NNE aerial rods vertical), then your signal from all the COM muxes is not at all good according to DUK trade view, with SDN (which carries the channels you mention) marginally the better!
If it's Waltham (E, rods horizontal) you shouldn't have any problems. As you may well be picking up several transmitters, see if you have any channels in the 800's that have a better signal, in which case a full reset and retune may be the best idea.
It's also possible you aerial could be pointing at Belmont (NE) or Sutton Coldfield (SW) rods horizontal for both.

All:
The annoying re-tune message can be a bit generic with no date mentioned. It usually appears about a week or so before a switchover/channel change and may persist for several days after.
There is no point in retuning before the switchover or change date(s), and once you have done it after the change date(s), there is no need to do it again.
Find out when your particular date(s) are, then just keep cancelling the message until it goes away!

We are pointing a Waltham always have done and it was ok until recently but as you say the SDN is now causing problem. Couple of hours from now it will be OK on quest. I'm wondering if its some sort of interference from someone broadcasting that shuts down midnight/early morning and then starts up again later in the day.
One thing though when I do a full signal scan from scratch it gives me a choice of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire or East Midlands. When I move the rectangle to East Midlands I get BBC Look North and when I select Yorkshire and Lincolnshire I get East Midlands Today.
Doesn't matter which I select I still get the SDN channels pixelating etc. Every other channel is OK.

Martin: & Lee:
As you can see the Rowridge transmitter it's possible you may have too much signal since the switch over and this is causing your EPG problems.

Its not EPG problems even with the pixelation the EPG works fine, I see all the progs although with some channels it takes a bit of time to populate the EPG.
Where is Rowridge? Never heard of it.

Dave Hunter:
Hi, the Rowridge post was for Martin & Lee :)
It's I.O.W.
How old is your aerial? Do you think it may have moved a bit in any recent high wind?
You've not got any channels in the 800's then?
Strange about the regional reception, should get East Midlands from Waltham. Are you sure it's selecting the way you think it is?
From Waltham, SDN is on C29 (Group A) whereas all the others are top of group C/D so if you don't have a wideband aerial SDN may be a bit iffy particularly if the aerial has moved.
The other possibility is that as the scan is progressing the set replaces C29 from Waltham with C51 from Nottingham. On some sets, the basic programme information display tell you the UHF channel for the mux and the signal strength. If you aren't sure how to find out which UHF channel a particular mux is on, have a read of the manual. You may have to find out how to do a manual tune if it's possible.

Now all the channels on SDN are pixelating and sound quality severely reduced. This has been a gradual process over the last few weeks. My aerial is still pointing to Waltham has it has done since it was installed. I have one of these Argos Bush receivers I bought last year when the Asda one I had stopped working during the switch-over. ITV3 was great last week today its rubbish. 5*, 5 USA,5+1 and quest are the same and this amount of disruption is less than a week old. Previously is was very intermittent pixelation. So what's causing this? Could it be 4G interference?

Dave Hunter: Just for information purposes, I carry out frequent signal checks on various channels including SDN from Waltham, and can report that at no time recently has there been any problems with it when received in the Peterborough area, it giving a steady signal with no errors whatsoever being indicated.
As a matter of fact considering its ERP is half that of the main PSB muxes its coming in at virtually the same level as them on a DM log used for test purposes.
