To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

andrea: If by re-tuning you have picked up the new Clacton transmitter, this being on Ch48, then you wont get the channels that you are missing until the 20th of this month when another two Mux's join in, these being on Ch52 and Ch42, the latter being the HD Mux. (further re-tune being required)
No alternative possibilities for use in the meantime can be seen, although this is using a guess post code for your location, and
possibly not very accurate as you have reported as having these channels before.
Needless to say that your post code is essential for maximum accuracy as far as this is concerned, this said as usual with some qualifications!

I have an outside aerial located half-way up the roof. I can receive all channels perfectly apart from Itv1,2,3,4 and 5. Even Russia today, but no ITV channels. Change back to analogue and the iTV channels are fine. Is this something to do with the way ITV transmit differently to say BBC? The digital box I'm using is a BUSH. I also have a tv with freeview integrated and exactly the same problem. I certainly hope this will not be the case at swithover, as I shall lose all ITV channels. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Suzanne: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts that you should have excellent reception on all muxes at your location. The lack of Mux2 could be due to the RF modulator on a VCR or Sky box being set around C68 causing it to block the Freeview signal. Another possibility is you have received a weak (and unusable) signal from Sandy Heath on C24 when scanning and found channels which are stored in the "normal" places in the channel list,the Oxford channels which are found at the end of the scan would then be found in the 800s of the channel list. Third possibility is if you have any amplification on the signal it could be too strong on Mux2.Last but not least the aerial could be sited in a null for the Mux2 signal or have a poor response on C68. If this is the case you should be OK after switchover as the current ITV1 frequency which you are receiving fine at present will be used by Mux D3+4. It might be worth checking that all cables and connectors are in order in case any poor connections are causing problems.

Bridlington
I live in Bridlington, East Yorkshire and the changeover is due to start in August but for the past 2 weeks I have been unable to get any of the ITV channels or Channel 4 and its partners. My son who lives in Essex and has already started the first phase has lost ALL his channels. Whats going on here, I thought the digital age was supposed to be better.

Jasmine: As at this present time, reception is only showing as being possible on Ch30 from Belmont, these being the main BBC channels and with variable reception being shown for the remainder, this state continuing until 17th August, although its not until the 23rd of November that all six Mux's are shown as being receivable.
However, and without wishing to appear a prophet of doom, but the situation is predicted to take a dive again in 2013 with four of the Mux's once again becoming variable in reception, this including the main BBC stations as well as the HD service.
I would seriously think about changing to Freesat for guaranteed reception for about 99% of the time, as any time a glitch did occur would invariably be during a "very" heavy downpour.

m Sim: You could possibly be receiving your TV from two sources, but according to the trade predictor the situation at this present time indicates Sandy (Anglia) as being the best bet.
That said though, in 28th September when switchover stage 2 occurs at Oxford it then appears as the better, this continuing until into 2012 when during the year the lesser channels using Mux's A-C-D are forecast to start tapering off, with this showing into 2013.
Whilst on BBC1, go into your TV or boxes tuning menu / signal check area and observe what the channel number is showing as, if its Ch27 its Sandy Heath (Anglia) but if Ch34 its Oxford.
