Can I use an existing sky dish with a freeview box? and if so can the two servic
No, you cannot use a satellite box to receive terrestrial programmes.
I don't want to use a satellite box I have a freeview box. I want to know if an existing dish for sky can be use with the freeview box.Can I use a cable splitter and run one end to the sky box the the other to a freeview box and get the freeview channels.
You cannot use a Freeview receiver with a satellite dish, only an aerial.
You also cannot split a satellite signal from a dish, if you want to run more than one box you must use a dual- or quad-LNB on the satellite dish and have a cable to each satellite receiver.

its not the quote to sort it out. its the case that when i asked them about renewing the dish as its made of rust. dish, brackets and wall mount.even when i up graded to sky+ they have not changed it.even thou i told them the reception was poor and a very low signal. after 14 years of paying £18-£23 you would think it was the least they would do. of course as we all know as a customer you get no support with out paying for it. and have to cancel you subscription to get any offers/upgrades.

Hi, we have just moved into a new house near Durham and previous occupant has left coax wiring in a mess for TV's.
We have had sky replace the dish, and this cable runs direct to the box in the lounge.
TV in 2 bedrooms have poor picture despite living a few mile from Pontop Pike.
Ariel is in the loft as it is a new estate where outside ariels are not allowed. This runs into an unpowered splitter running 4 sockets. There is no electic in the lost so not easy to fit a signal booster but have seen Labgear MSA263LP/S Remote Power Distribution Amp 6-Way. Can I distribute sky through this, and how? Do you think the booster will work?

DB: Well, if you are meaning to use this remote powered splitter to distribute the "Freeview" signal from the loft aerial to the other rooms in the house then yes! that should be perfect for the job.

JB. yes that is the bit of kit.
It means I don't have to put an electric socket in the loft. If it will boost to give an adequate freeview (although mean buying new TVs!) in the other rooms then great. Is there also a way to send the sky signal through it as well to get sky into the other rooms or would it one or the other?

DB: Yes, you could do, but the problem is that you would require an additional cable to link your loft aerial directly to the Sky boxes aerial input, using the existing cable as a return from Sky's RF output to the splitters input in the loft, but the following would apply.
Needless to say, the TV in the living room would not have a Freeview aerial input, this being where I would recommend the purchase of a simple two way powered splitter to use near to the TV / Sky box, then connecting the lead from the loft aerial directly to its input, with one of its outputs going to the living room TV, and a jumper from the other output going to the Sky boxes aerial input.
Using this method would keep the aerial signal from being dragged down, plus giving it a very minor boost before going through the Sky box so that the boxes modulator was less likely to cause any odd types of problems.
You would of course have to ensure that your Sky boxes RF modulator was two channels either side clear of any of the multiplexes used by wherever you are receiving Freeview from.
The power supply by the way, could be used in an upstairs bedroom as it works on any one of the splitters outputs.

k: For FreeVIEW you need to use an aerial connection, which is a push-in connector. This might be connected to your Sky box at the moment, to distribute to other rooms in the house.
For FreeSAT - free TV through a satellite dish - the connection from the dish uses a screw-on connector. Just transfer this from the Sky box to the Freesat box. However, you need a second, completely independent, connection from the box to the dish if you want to guarantee recording two programmes at the same time. You cannot split an existing cable. The recorder sends some signals back up the cable to the LNB (the box at the end of the dish arm) to tell it what range of channels to select, and each tuner has to be able to select any of the four options.
Some installers do use screw-on connectors for aerial connections as well, but the last cable to the TV or box will end in a push-in connector.

We have just moved into a flat, and there is a sky dish that belongs to another flat, but the only TV connection in our flat is a sky cable, what do i need to adapt this connection to an ordinary aerial connector, i don't have sky, but do have BT vision
