For the last six years, I have answered many thousands of personal emails that you have sent to UK Free TV.
Sadly, I am unable to offer this personal service at the moment.
Until I can restore this service, please can you leave any questions you have on an appropriate page, where they will be answered as soon as possible, or below, if you can't figure out where to ask.
I look forward to your questions!

Thanks Dave, that's really helpful. One further question - until about 2 weeks ago we were also receiving multiplexes 1 and B, only for the signal to decline suddenly on New Years Eve. Would you have any ideas as to how/why this happened?

Leon: This is the nature of reception of digital signals. With analogue, the picture gets gradually worse (more grainy) as the signal gets weaker.
With digital the picture works, up until a particular point (known as the "cliff edge") when it doesn't work. There isn't much inbetween where it "sort of" works.
Of course, there is no saying that the signal won't return, as whatever has changed to put it just below the threshold could go in the opposite direction.
I suggest that you do the things that are within your power; checking cables and connections. Use the analogue signals to do this, moving cables and connectors and seeing if there is an immediate change to the quality of the picture which would indicate an issue with the cable. Swap the cable with another one if you have one. Is one better than the other?

I realise that this is 'UK TV' but I am a British Expat living in Spain and I get Sky TV over here - as many thousands of people and businesses do (rightly or wrongly).
My friend recently went to buy a Freesat box, to use in Spain, from a well known British shop and she was told by the salesperson that she shouldn't buy one. She was told by him that he used to work for Freesat (I think it was Freesat) and that she needn't bother buying one because this year or next, Astra will be moving their satellite. He told her that we will not be able to get any Sky TV at all when it happens.
It can't be a secret that we do receive Sky over here. We will all be devastated not to be able to watch our favourite TV programs anymore, not to mention all the bars and restaurants who also have Sky TV, especially the sports. I also pay to subscribe to Sky.
Does anyone know, or has anyone heard anything like this?

Good morning helpful guys,
I have just moved into a rented house. The previous tenants had Sky which has been disconnected. I only want 'normal' TV. My TV is Freeview ready etc but when I try and install the channels nothing is being recognised. I'd rather ask first and have a little back ground knowledge before calling out an engineer.
All advice/ help is extremely appreciated.

Graihagh: If your TV is Freeview then the Sky facilities you mention are of no real use to you as you require a normal aerial. That being said though, indications are that you could be in a difficult reception area for Freeview reception as Heathfield (@ 22mls / 91 degrees) indicates the main BBC and ITV channels as being variable until June13th, albeit that the remaining muxes appear to be reasonably OK, no HD though until June 13th.
The other presently available alternative is Midhurst (@ 19mls / 275 degrees) as its main PSB muxes are shown as possible and that includes SDN (ITV3 etc) and also MuxB (BBC 4 / CBeebies etc)
Using the degree angles given for reference, you should have a look up at aerials on nearby rooftops to get an idea of what station is being used by others local to you.
I will say a completely safe bet would have been if you had purchased a Freesat receiver, as provided the Sky dish was working when the previous occupiers left then you could have just screwed the "F" connector onto the rear socket and that would be you ready to view, after having auto tuned it!

I have 3 Sky boxes and want to be able to control all 3 of them from other rooms. Is it possible to transmit all 3 RF2 signals throughout the house, so that from rooms with no Sky box, you can control 1 Sky box through the remote and watch the other two that are playing. As I will need 3 different RF channels, can anybody please let me know the best 3 channels to use for post code CV3 6RD.
Many thanks

John: Are you in effect meaning that you have three Sky boxes sitting possibly close to each other in the same room all tuned to different programme channels and you want to combine their three outputs and feed this to other rooms using "one" cable, but you also want the viewer in that room to be able to change their programme without affecting the other two boxes? should this be what you are meaning then it cannot work, as its not the actual RF channel used as such that carries the channel change code but the cable itself.
The only way you will achieve what you want is to run a feed from one of the boxes to one room and fit a magic eye controller onto the TV in the room so that the person viewing can change the channels on the remotely positioned box, this procedure would have to be done x 3.

I have Freesat (via Sky) with a VHS recorder, and want to purchase a digital recorder with Freeview. I want to connect it up so that I can have either Freeview (which works when Freesat is rained off) or Freesat (which gives more on the red button at times). I have both a standard aerial and a satellite dish connection. I am looking at a Humax recorder which has 2 scart connections. Can I make this work and if so how.
