My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Hello,
I have moved into my new apartment in Glasgow and the wall plate socket has two outlets names SAT and UHF.We are not allowed to set up a dish but there is a communal dish that is providing freeview to all flats.(There are more than 6 flats in the building)The building agency has told me its possible to get Sky Tv through the dish and sockets.
I have a sky pkus hd box and would like to use that to watch freeview. There are two RF out sockets in the wall plate.
Would I need to connect a male RF out pin from the wall socket with an F type male pin at the other end connected to the Dish input 1 or 2 to the sky box or just use a cable from the UHF to aerial in behind the sky box?
I did connect both these ways and there is no signal shown on the sky box.
But the UHF connection to freeview box has signal.
It would be grateful to know how I could use the Sky box properly.

Mark: I'm no expert, but I assume the Sat connection is an F type, while the UHF is a normal aerial type. You can't use one for the other, even by 'converting' it.
In that case, you can only use the F type for Sky (and for one tuner/input only). The UHF is is for Freeview only. You might well be better getting a cheap Freeview PVR to record and watch, and just using the Sky box to watch or record.

Mark: Just to add to that said by MikeB and who has already explained the situation, but the communal system used in your new flat must be one of the older types that can only cater for standard (non +) Sky boxes, unfortunately there isn't anything that you can do about this.
What to do is connect the sat connection on the wall plate into your Sky+ boxes LNB1 input, LNB2 left unconnected, then go into the boxes set up menu and choose "single LNB input operation", this greatly limiting your options for recording by you only being able to record a programme that's on the same "polarity" as the channel that you are viewing, because should you accidentally violate this rule a warning message will flash on the screen stating "not possible" or some other similar statement.
I would though be inclined to go along the lines of what MikeB has suggested, insomuch purchase a twin tuner Freeview PVR as that would give you the maximum flexibility for recording.

Thanks guys for your messages.I found out that the wall plate I had was not good enough.I bought a new wall plate from Screwfix thatwas named Screened Flush Diplexed f Sattelite an Coaxial TV/FM/DAB outlet.
Basically it had a single input (main Cable from communal dish to the flat) and one Sat outlet and UHF outlet.
I also bought a good quality cable and fixed two f connectors.I did change it to Single Feed Mode and voila..I have all the channels excpet the subscription ones
Cheers Guys!

Mark: Pleased to see that the new wall plate has rectified the problem, but though please keep in mind what I had previously mentioned regarding polarity, because if you are intending to record a programme that happens to be on the opposite polarity to that which you are presently viewing it will be blocked, the reason for this being that the Sky box sends a 2 level polarity switching control voltage to the dishes LNB (or in your case the remotely positioned switching unit) dependant on the channel you are viewing, but because you are only supplied via a single input feed the voltage has to be one or the other, i.e: high or low and not both at the same time.
You will of course be able to view any channel you wish provided that no attempt is made to record anything that happens to be on a different polarity, likewise if a timer recording has started from the box having been sitting in standby the polarity used by the channel being recorded will take precedence over anything that you might wish to view.
I only mention this in case you experience any problems.
