My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Seems no one can help Angie or myself, or maybe someone who can just hasn't seen our posts as they are over a month old.
So lets try again.
Mines a Thomson box, can't remember model (not sure what Angie has).
Both have same problem, gaps in schedules.
This makes setting programs in advance a pain, trying over and over again until the program appears, and even worse mean series being recorded fail to set the next episode if it's in a scheduling black hole (luckily we can set most things that don't appear on the SKY+ box, but there are times we need to record more than 2 things at once, or the SKY+ gets clogged up with 'er indoors Disney movies)
Mine has had aerial taken out & channels rescanned, it's on 8 day EPG, has no top up card in it, and has been powered off numerous times.
As the disk is over 50% full I don't want to completely reformat the whole thing.

I have a TVonics MDR252 Freeview box connected to a Philips 17 inch 4:3 aspect ratio TV. The box is set to give a centre cutout picture. This has worked OK until April 3rd 2014, when I rescanned the box. On COM 6, (UHF channel 39 Sutton Coldfield transmitter), when selecting either 4music, Film4+1, 4seven or Ideal world channels, the picture is displayed in centre cutout mode, as expected. After 3 seconds, it changes to widescreen mode. This does not happen on Viva or Yesterday, which broadcast on the same multiplex/channel.
I have tried a factory reset and retuning the box to the Waltham transmitter where the same thing happens. Any ideas? The aspect ratio can be changed in the settings menu, but the picture reverts to wide screen after exiting the menu.

Christopher Pugh: Provided that can put up with the inconvenience of having to use the TV / AV button to select your Freeview box as the input, then your problem might be rectified by opening up the scart lead socket and snipping the wire connected to pin8.

Christopher Pugh: I've recently noticed that most transmissions normally now go to widescreen (ie - bars at bottom & top) automatically on my CRT via digibox looking at Waltham. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it, and its nice to actually see the sides of the frame....

I am unable to receive any programmes on freq C24 (STV, CH 4, CH5 etc) despite trying reset procedure many times. I have also tried manual scan search which shows signal quality as poor or none. This has been like this for several days now - any ideas what the problem could be?. Postcode is EH6 8PQ, many thanks.
