From Wikipedia: The channel's annual budget for 2011/12 is 1,166.6 million.3 Along with the BBC's other domestic television stations, and many European broadcasters and some in Asia, it is funded principally by the television licence fee, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming with no commercial advertising at any time. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV1. This system used a vertically-scanned image of 30 lines just enough resolution for a close-up of one person, and with a bandwidth low enough to use existing radio transmitters. - en.wikipedia.org read more about BBC One (SD) on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

I live in postcode FY8 2AL area and ubtil recently (about 3 weeks ago) had no problems in receiving BBC1 & BBC2 on my Luxor TV with built in Freeview.
I have tried resetting the TV to re tune the channels but this has not worked. There does not appear to be an option to do a manual re tune or ability to add a channel.
Has there been any recent issues experienced by others? Is there a solution? I suspect (but don't know) that the signal will come from Winterhill.

Paul Dyson: As your postcode resolves to a block of flats I suspect that you might be using a communal aerial system and therefore that if the issue lies with it then it is only the party responsible (e.g. landlord) that can do anything to put it right.
Communal aerial systems are sometimes filtered so as to only allow through channels (frequencies) used by the designated transmitter. In the case of Winter Hill, BBC standard definition (PSB1) and COM5 (Pick TV, Dave, Sky News etc) are on previously unused channels hence for that reason it may require adjustment.

We have just had our tv aerial adjusted to point towards Belmont, so we can receive Lincolnshire news. It has just been on the news channel and it appears to have Yorkshire news, Doncaster Hull area. Is the weekend news different to news in the week ? My postcode is DN21 3DF. Many thanks

Sandra M Norton: Belmont serves East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, on BBC1 the news is broadcast from Hull. ITV shares whole output with Emley Moor at weekends, but does have a Belmont opt-out section on weekdays. South Lincolnshire is served by the Waltham transmitter on BBC East Midlands, East Midlands today includes some items for Lincoln and Skegness areas.
