By providing a full postcode (such as W1A 1AA), national grid reference (for example SE123456) or latitude, longitude pair (like 54, -0.5) this page will provide a map, terrain plot and detailed information of the location showing the UK and RoI television transmitters that it is possible you receive Freeview, Freeview HD, Youview, BT TV and Saorview from.
(Don't know your postcode? Find it at Post Office Postcode finder).
UK Free TV uniquely shows you transmitter coverage maps, aerial to transmitter terrain plots, the closest 10 mobile phone masts (for possible 5G-at-800 interference) as well as tabulated information (sorted by direction, by received signal strength, by frequency, by service names or by transmitter name).

fozzy: Motors TV seems to be basically via the net, although it also requires an HD tuner. The website says that any post 2012 Sony Smart TV W series will be fine (yours is 2014), but :
' It must be connected to the internet via either a cable back to your home router or WiFi (some new TVs also have in-built WiFi that can connect). Follow your manufacturer's instructions on how to do this.'
Yours has wifi built in, so you need to to set it up to go on the net, and then follow the channels instructions from there.

fozzy : The list you are referring to might not necessarily have been updated, therefore the best way to ascertain if you are able to view Motors TV or not via your KDL-50W829B (you should acc to info seen) is to select LCN 240 then "waiting" until the caption appears, the middle section in blue printing providing the answer.
By the way, the i-Manual for your model states that you can connect into the internet via a standard LAN cable or alternatively via its built in Wi-Fi, procedures used to access both described in pages 131 -133.

MikeP: Thanks for getting back to me again Mike. Our reception is now simply intolerable; my beloved 'X Files" was unwatchable on Chanel 5 last night (I'll have to resort to 'Demand 5'). We are extremely annoyed and frustrated by/with Freeview TV; as previously stated, we never had any such issues with analogue. I appreciate what you recommend as regards "a good aerial contractor", but I have now genuinely spent hundreds of pounds trying to resolve this with at least three different contractors already. To date, we have had 2 aerials, 2 booster amplifiers, renewed co-ax cable, 4G filter and our problems have returned. We really don't know where to turn to next. is there an Ombudsman for Freeview ? We would seriously like to complain.

fozzy: I'm a bit puzzled by what you are meaning by retune, as retuning shouldn't come into the equation
"if" Motors TV is listed as being EPG 240. However, judging what you have mentioned to MikeB, it would appear that your TV is permanently connected into your router via Wi-Fi, which is somewhat unfortunate because LAN connections are sometimes better for tests over that of Wi-Fi, although I fully appreciate that not everyone can position their router close to the TV.
If though you are able to use a LAN connection, kill the Wi-Fi and connect the LAN cable into the TV followed by selecting EPG 248 Africa Free, do you get the promo screen? try the same on 245 Planet Knowledge, anything iffy about the TV will trigger a caption warning that - some features may not work properly - followed by loading, which might then be followed by - cannot store input values - if anything is amiss compatibility wise with the TV.
I should also have added to my previous reply re compatibility, that this qualification is referring more to the TV being able to be connected into the internet, and not that its fully compatible with the software requirements necessary to be able view a particular programme via same.

Keith: Looking at your location, your only 27km from Winter Hill. If your signal is breaking up, it could be due to too high a signal level. You've had two boosters, etc, but you've never told us what the signal strength is. So what is the signal strength?

My postcode is M45 6NL for some time I have been experiencing pixel breakup on my free view. ...friends that have had a similar problem system it is due to 4g signal interruption. Can you please advise if I am in the area for that to happen.
Any advice would be welcome as it is now intolerable.
Many thanks

Elaine: Check your signal strength.Your 19km from Winter Hill, which sounds like too much signal (especially if you have booster, etc). Search for 'too much of a good thing' on this site.
