Sandra Steele: It depends where you are in relation to the transmitter. Winter Hill broadcasts 3 different local TV services (Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool/Preston) which are all broadcast directionally towards each target area.

MikeP: Please can you provide a link to this more recent statement? The link I posted from A516digital in March mentions the misleading headlines from various national papers about FM closure being abandoned, which is not the case if you read the statement properly.

AndyF: Put your postcode in to Digital UK's checker and tick the detailed view box to get a list of the current and future planned frequency allocations for all transmitters predicted to be receivable at your location.

DONALD KIRKBRIDE: I believe YouView boxes rescan for new channels automatically. Check the manual for your other box, or tell us the make/model and someone may know.

Mrs Angela Thompson: Many parts of the UK are currently suffering the effects of signals from distant transmitters travelling much further than normal due to the current hot weather and causing interference with the signals from the transmitter you're trying to receive. This is entirely normal and has been known about and understood since the early days of TV broadcasting.

Angela Thompson : Please provide a full postcode so that we can see your predicted coverage. The affects of atmospheric pressure are exactly the same as they were 50 years ago and will remain the same 50 years from now. If your signal is always bad you probably have a fault somewhere in your aerial system.

Matthew savage: You are predicted to have variable reception of COM (the multiplex which carries Forces TV) from Crystal Palace and it is only set to get worse in a few weeks time when frequency changes take place at other transmitters. You would be better off looking at Freesat to get reliable reception of Forces TV.

Hardy: There was a warning of reduced quality for the Lowestoft transmitter early this morning, however there is nothing else showing for the last few weeks. Planned engineering work is generally not undertaken during major events such as the World Cup unless in response to a fault.

Gary: The current atmospheric conditions are probably allowing your to pick up a weak signal (enough to get the channel data but not enough to get a picture) from a main transmitter which would not normally be receivable.

Michelle Pledger: Please provide a full postcode so that we can see the predicted coverage at your location. Transmitter power levels do not vary so the signal should certainly not come and go. I would expect a reputable engineer to make proper checks of your aerial system and not just retune your TV.
