mike: Yes but it would appear that you will only be able to receive from the Conwy relay transmitter which means you will only have the PSB channels. For that reason you might prefer to consider Freesat.

mike:
To get Freeview, you have to use an aerial.
You main TV presumably has a Sky box connected to it, that then being connected to the dish - or perhaps your TV has a 'built in' satellite receiver that has been set for Sky with a Sky Viewing Card.
As I understand it, Google Chromecast allows your laptop/PC/Smartphone to send video and audio to a TV with the Chromecast 'dongle' fitted, see
Chromecast
It then allows you to view whatever is available either from saved programmes on your computer or else to view streamed content downloaded via the internet.
Freeview is not available on the internet! Where you live, it is only available via an aerial set to receive from the Conway Freeview Lite transmitter not far from your home. Note that this is a 'lite' transmitter and so does not provide all the services that would be available from a full service transmitter.

Mike: Perhaps the aerial is a group a one which could do with replacing with a wideband.

Check the signal strength on BBC One, ITV and ITV3. Then compare with Pick. If Pick is markedly lower then maybe it's a group A aerial.

Mike: No obvious reasons are seen for this problem, as your move only amounted to around two miles or so further away from the Belmont transmitter but still on the same bearing of 157 degrees from same.

ITV4 is on COM6 Mux Ch60 and with ITV4+1 being on COM4 Ch30, and so its a question of whether or not you can view (18) 4Music which is also on COM6 or (10) ITV3 which is on COM4, and if you can then you should try carrying out a retune with the aerial connection removed for the purpose of wiping out everything already stored, then on completion reconnect the aerial followed by carrying out a further retune to re-load the programmes into the tuner.

By the way, a somewhat superior method to the above is to carry out a "first time installation" procedure, this also known as a "factory reset" or "default setting".

However, if you cannot receive the two programmes mentioned then are you on a communal aerial system? or do you have your own aerial? if on the former I would check with others to find out if they are also experiencing similar problems.

We are planning our first trip away soon in our touring caravan and we would like to take our small tv with us. We do not have any aerial yet but i am enquiring if we purchased a small indoor portable aerial would it be sufficient. With everything we have had to purchase we are trying to keep costs down so if an indoor aerial would suffice that would be great!! We would be staying about 15 miles from Belmont transmitter in lincs.

A small indoor portable aerial will not work inside a caravan! The metal body of the van will prevent any signal reaching the aerial.
You need a 'log periodic' aerial, to cover all possible transmiters where you park up, and ideally with an easily erected mast system. Might be worth looking at Labgear LABLPC 400mm 9dB Compact Log Periodic 20: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics (others are available) but this is a short type and some areas may need a stronger reception (longer arm with more cross elements) to recieve the weaker signals better.
There are types available to mount on the A-frame of your caravan and others that are ground mounted with guy ropes. You will always need to adjust the direction it is pointing so it is aimed at the transmitter serving the area you are staying and you need to check whether the cross arms need to be sert horizontal or vertical (the picture linked to above is set horizontal).
When you know where you ar likely to be staying, check which is the local transmitter and not the polarity (H or V) and the channel numbers for the multiplexes provided. When at your location, erect the aerial, aim it roughly with a compass (there is information on this sire about the exact location of all the UK TV transmitters and you have to work out the compass bearing between that and your location), set the polarity (the aerial instruction book will tell you how, so worth reading it) and thenconnect the TV and retune it - again using the TV instruction manual noting you may need to do do a complete reset from an 'initial installation' setting. The manual should tell you how to do that. (That is necessary to eliminate all previous settings that would be for a different location.)
Hope that helps?

Please post a question, answer or commentIf you have Freeview reception problems before posting a question your must first do this Freeview reset procedure then see: Freeview reception has changed, Single frequency interference, and Freeview intermittent interference.

If you have no satellite signal, see Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'

If you have other problems, please provide a full (not partial) postcode (or preferably enter it in box at the top right) and indicate where if aerial is on the roof, in the loft or elsewhere.
