Mr Wright:
It would have been helpful if had given a full [ost code. Then we could see where you are in relation to the transmitters. Dover is rather a long way from Maldon, the transmitter being SSE of your approximate location. The Crystal Palace transmitter, in south London, is much more powerful and gives relevant services for the whole of the London area.
Your Wide Band aerial will probably be suitable for all Freeview services from any transmitter that can be received at your location.
Further comments dependent on your post code.

Mr Wright:
Just noticed that you gacve a suitable post code. Youy are way too far away from Dover in Kent.
Have your aerial turned so you receive from Crystal Palace and do a retune. You should then check the signal strength as you do not want any multiplex to be received at more than 75% strength and not less than 50%, both to much and too little signal will give reception problems and your aerial may have too high a gain for relaible reception.

It is ridiculous for Channel 7 to be kept empty in England and Northern Ireland. It could and should be filled by any one of the non BBC network operators. How about UKTV GOLD to be made available on freeview Channel 7?

jb38: Mike when I select Motors TV I get told I need to retune on my Sony tv when i look at the channel numbers its not tuning to any stations between 240-248 so I don't see channel 245 or 248 is this due to my ariel/location? My wifi is fully functional as I can use it for all other apps extra and testing the data rate I get 13507kbs which is more than adequate. Where as on my PC TV card it tunes to the 250 channel and says no picture they are on separate cables but from the same source and the Sony is on a shorter run I'm at a loss.
Thanks again.

fozzy: Motors TV is broadcast on Winter Hills COM4 / Mux C58, your area predicted as having excellent reception from same, COM4 also used by such as (10) ITV3 / (20) Drama / (30*) STAR and a host of other programmes, are these seen on the EPG lisings?.
I also checked the list of programme channels specifically broadcast by Winter Hill, 240 being one of them.
You should try carrying out a manual scan on Mux C58 and see if this makes any difference.

fozzy : In addition to that said, all EPG listings from 240 - 255 (excl 245) are COM4 data channels, likewise the screen will remain blank until after 10 seconds or so (on average) if one is selected.
I only mention this as I suspect that you might be inching up the channels on your remote in the same way as done with non-data channels, the aforementioned time lag before anything appears giving you the impression that nothing has been received.

fozzy: In that case it would appear that for some reason or another your TV is failing to store most of COM4's IPTV channels, as 239 is broadcast on COM6 and with 256 being on COM7, the odd thing about this being that 248 (Africa Free TV) "is" on COM4.
As all these missing channel numbers are definitely broadcast by Winter Hill, albeit that its a bit of a bind having to do this, but you should try carrying out a "factory reset" on your TV and see if this resolves the problem, the procedure for same listed on page 196 of your i-manual.
Just in case you are unable to find it:
Press : Home button and select Settings - Select : system settings - general set up - factory settings - yes - yes.

jb38: Thanks for the response, unfortunately I did a reset and re-tune prior to the post so I know that's not the problem, could it be to do with mobile phone masts? this is frustrating at least its narrowed down now.
