Nigel: at approx 43 miles / 107 degrees is indicated as providing the best level in your area over that from @ 21 miles/ 283 degrees, the your is possibly facing towards?.

However, although your aerial might not be facing towards Belmont, its only around 5 degrees off what's known as reverse (or rear) pick up, some types of aerials being better than others when operating in this way, and so if your device has a "manual" tuning facility? you can use this to check if its worthwhile (or not) to swing your aerial around 180 degrees or so to face towards Belmont.

But though, "before" carrying out any tests it has to be ascertained that your Freeview device is capable of receiving HD transmissions, insomuch, are you able to view BBC HD 101-105 etc? because if not, this will be the reason for the 18 channel difference between your neighbours and you, likewise abandon the undermentioned.

However, should you be able to view those ? carry out the following procedure.

Being, enter Mux 33 (Belmont's COM7) into the manual tuning box but do "not" press search or , as this allows the tuner time to indicate if any signal is being received no matter how low it might be. If though a signal of around 50% strength / is indicated, then press search or scan to store it in the EPG listings, although it will likely be stored up in the 800 range.

If successful, carry out the procedure again but this time enter (Belmont's COM8).

Further advice as required.

Evening all

I have been looking at the changes that are coming due to the 700mhz Clearance and have found a link that talks about the changes, however the frequency changes listed on this site for Winter Hill differ from them listed in the link below!

Ofcom seeks input on Freeview changes: 20 million will need to retune - a516digital

Just wondering if anyone knows if this link is correct or not??

Andy: a516's site is generally pretty reliable. I've no idea where the data for future allocations comes from for this site as haven't made any firm announcements of future allocations yet.

@KMJ,: I was at a meething at the Television Group last week and everything seems to be on course for DSO2 to happen as planned, perhaps a little earlier.

Of particular note will be COM7 and COM8 moving to two single- networks on and (I think).

michael Hart: Either you're watching ITV HD which doesn't yet have a version or the at your new house is receiving it's from a in the . If you post a full postcode we'll be able to see which transmitters you should be able to receive and offer further advice.
