Freeview reception at LS29 8QA

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

Lesley: The Shatton Edge page has an engineering post showing that work is taking place today. They don't generally provide finish times but the transmitter will most likely be back on by the time it gets dark. Do not attempt to retune.

I live in a flat that has NO roof aerial and not much of a chance of getting one installed (lots of landlords with owners registered abroad). I am floor 2 and 3 of a 5 story building. I received only terrestrial tv channels through a cable box (not virgin, a DVB cable digibox - house previously had virgin) and recently the signals started to die off. I have two TV's in my house with freeview built in and have never been able to pick it up. I am endeavouring to do this now and last week I purchased a "Freeview HDTV Aerial True 50 Mile Multidirectional antenna with 4G filter for maximum Freeview/UHF/VHF/FM/USB TV Tuner/DVB-T/DVB-T2/DAB radio reception" indoor aerial, which is mounted on the window. Finally I have managed to pick up a signal, but am only receiving PSB1 and COM5 channels?? I have BBC1, 2, 4, CBeebies, Tony Pop, Sony Crime, Sony Crime +1, BBC Alba and Sony Movies +1. Unfortunately I am not picking up any other channels and the BBC ones are rather pixelated. I have just ordered a "Signal Booster, SLx TV Single Output Amplifier 27828HSR With Integrated 4G Filter - Improve Picture Quality And Channel Reception - Boost Your HD TV/FM/DAB Signal. 1 Way - For HD and Freeview".

Is there any chance that I will be able to pick up Freeview TV? Or, using the methods above, if I am not going to pick them up, have you got any suggestions as I do not own all of the block in which I live, have no roof access and will not be able to get a roof aerial installed. Please help, wits end!!!

VMac:

We need you to provide a full post code so we can see what the predicted reception is like at your location. However, from the descrip[tion you give of your accommodation is is jighly unlikely that you will get any reliable reception using the indoor aerial you have - unless you are close to the transmitter and it is visible from you windows (TV signals don't like travelling through walls or metal framed windows).

You only alternative is to use an internet connection to watch streamed services - as long as you have a sufficiently fast broadband service available in the apartment.

As you have no access tot he roof, and no permission to fit anything there, you cannot add either and aerial for Freeview or a dish for Freesat or Sky.

We are been having problems with the TV signal in great Yarmouth area for a number of weeks now , we are not the only one , lots of people social network have stated they have lost there signal again yet your site shows no problems with the transmitter , it goes off at different times of the day , isn't it time someone check the records at the transmitter for faults and fix them , so we in this area can enjoy watching TV instead of a blank screen

The current weather patterns are causing reception problems across the UK, it's worse in some areas than others. So [lease be patient for the weather to change. Do not retune.

I'm still somewhat puzzled by the 700MHz Clearance plan for the Sandy Heath transmission area. According to the schedules there are no further retunes planned - but RF Channels 51 (Com4), 55 (Com7) and 56 (Com8) are still in use - and all are above 700MHz.

I have seen comments on the web that Com7 and Com8 will no longer be available within the next two years or so. Is that nationwide or just for some areas? If it applies to Sandy Heath this would remove the transmissions currently on 746MHz and 754MHz - but it would still leave Com4 in the 700MHz band on 714MHz.

If Channels 55 and 56 ARE lost, are there any plans for Com7 and Com8 to be reassigned to other channels - or will their services be lost for ever?

I'll be grateful if someone can clarify the Clearance definitively.

GeordieLad: According to Digital UK, COM4 will move to UHF channel 33 at Sandy Heath early next year. COM7 & COM8 are expected to closed from all transmitters by mid-2022. UHF channels 55 & 56 sit in what will be the centre gap of the 700MHz 5G band and is expected to be auctioned off to the mobile networks for use as supplemental downlink spectrum. Some transmitters will loose COM7 & COM8 this year, presumably because no one is prepared to pay for the costs of re-engineering them when they will only be around for another 3 years.

Hi. I just wonder if there is something wrong with the Lancaster transmitter? Because I'm missing a few channels since a couple of days ago. It doesn't help to retune. Not even as if your tv was new.
