I agree that the loop resistance looks odd but all the connections seem to be good (using gold plated fittings throughout). It has, however, taken some time to try to check the whole cable length as much of it is inaccessible. Vermin isn't a problem. Whilst it suggests a possible issue, though, the signal reading were taken directly from the aerial. I will continue the investigation.
Interestingly, a small amount of signal on channel 48 has returned but it's not really viable. I'm seeing as much signal on channel 46 despite the aerial being vertically polarised and pointing at right angles to the Sutton transmitter.
Thanks for your help - I will continue to investigate before giving in and paying the cable company.

Edward Slater:
Is that loop resistance down to the TV from the loft, or from the TV back to the aerial?
Has your aerial got a Balun? It maybe worth looking at the loop resistance directly at the balun and check the internal connections, there maybe an explanation there.
How long (roughly) is your downlead?
As regards signals from Sutton, polarisations can change in the near vicinity of walls, chimneys, roof tiles & etc. This is why, as I'm sure you already know, RF is often described as being a bit of a Black Art!
If you haven't tried, see if examining each UHF channel (say above 44) has any spurious signals on them. Using the TV tuning section, you can probably see the strength/quality by selecting it but without actually tuning it. There might just be something causing an issue.

Vin:
Your most likely transmitter is Crystal Palace assuming your aerial is pointing at bearing 31 degrees, that's ~9 degrees E of NNE. If it's pointing at Reigate, bearing 195 degrees (almost SSW) with its rods vertical, you only be predicted to get reliable reception of the 3 PSB multiplexes (BBCA, D3&4, BBCB HD).
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.
Neither transmitter appears to have any faults recently reported, however Crystal Palace is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Screen may go black on some or all channels".

Ben Ware:
As you haven't given a full postcode, it's not possible to give a definitive answer, but in that area generally, it is highly unlikely, as you are not likely to get any reception from Crystal Palace even if your aerial was pointing that way. All the other transmitters you might receive do not transmit COM7 which is the multiplex that carries Quest HD.
COM7 was always a temporary multiplex until the frequencies were needed for mobile use, and it's due to close by the end of June 2022 under the terms of the current licence. No announcements have been made about what will happen to any of the channels on COM7, most people are expecting many will just close.

/Barbara Northwood: What do you mean by signal blocked? Are you getting a broken up picture or is nothing coming through at all? Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Is the aerial on the roof of the tower block part of a shared communal system or is it your own individual aerial connected directly to your TV? Have you checked whether anyone else in the building is suffering with the same problem? If so, contact whoever is responsible for maintaining the communal aerial system and get them to send someone to investigate/fix it.

Hi, our house number is 11. The aerial is in the loft. We can receive the Darvel Local MUX channels with excellent reception (8 That's TV Scotland, 50 Great TV, 52 Great Movies Classic & 61 Great Movies +1, but not the Darvel Main transmitter channels! Previously, we could receive the Darvel Main transmitter channels until 1 week ago, but they would often freeze or have a broken up picture, they had been like that for about 3 months or more. We thought it was down to the weather conditions, but now we have totally lost the Darvel Main transmitter channels and cannot manually retune them. We have tried the Freeview reset procedure. The good news is we used to have a huge woods which may have blocked the signal, but it has just been chopped down, but this has made no difference to reception.
