My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.
David: I think that the most likely answer is no. Switchover is coming in April where the power of signals will be increased to the equivalent of current analogue ones.
If channels are missing, I would try manually tuning (where equipment allows) to see if they can be added that way.
If the aerial is pointing and Crystal Palace (and is horizontally polarised), then manually tune to channel 22. If it is directed at Hemel Hempstead (and is therefore vertically polarised), manually tune to channel 55.

David: If you're on Crystal Palace, the Digital UK Tradeview predictor suggests that ITV1, C4, C5 multiplex (C22) will be "variable" at WD18 8AD (a post code taken at random), whereas all others, apart from HD, are "good". I cannot see why that might be the case; there does not appear to be any transmitters on C22 that could be likely to affect it in your area.
You might be able to adjust the amplifier (I assume it is an amplifier that is distributing the aerial feed) by increasing its amplification. Or you could try connecting one of the TVs directly to the incoming aerial (as a test).

Alan Gill: I wonder if the signal is too strong.
Assuming no local obstructions, you have clear line of sight 15.4 miles to the transmitter.

We have had no tv signal for over an hour, directly on tv aerial, or on BT Vision box, how can we determine if there is a problem in the whole area????

Gill: The Freesat box cannot really be referred to as any sort of guide when referring to the problem you have mentioned, it being purely a Freeview one received through the normal aerial.
The only way of checking is by making an enquiry with a neighbour, as you are indicated as being able to receive from three separate transmitters, Mendip / Ridge Hill and Wenvoe, Mendip having the edge on the other two.

Yes, thank you for that. We have a loft aerial with a splitter with cables directly to each room with a tv. Suddenly yesterday, all tv's are showing 'no signal'. Nothing has changed with our physical equipment????

Gill: Thanks for the update / explanation, in that case then "if" its a powered splitter that you are using try by-passing it by connecting the lead from the aerial directly to one of the output feeds that goes to one of the rooms, as this is the only way of knowing if the splitter has failed.
If though its not a powered splitter you use then the problem has to be somewhere from the splitter to the aerial.

Thanks jb38, it's not a powered splitter and the 'brown' cable from the splitter looks fine! It was only installed 6 weeks ago by a professional aerial guy I've used for 8 years now. It's been fine all this time,then suddenly yesterday afternoon, no signal on everyone's tv. I'll probably find out locally tomorrow, that there was a problem in the area LOL
