My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I Have 'lost' ITV 3 . Are there any engineering works going on at the Dover Transmitter?

Waltham transmitter reports no faults on many web pages but a symbol on one map says it does have a fault. Very poor information available. Signals today have gone from poor to zero.

James Redman: ITV3 (10) is broadcast on the COM4 Multiplex along with numerous other programmes such as QVC (16) / Drama (20) / 5* (30) etc, if you are still able to view these channels? then ITV3 has likely dropped out through some form of glitch having occurred in the tuner.
Although the best way of overcoming this type problem is by carrying out a reset / retune on your TV/ box, however, "if" said device offers a manual tuning facility? another method which sometimes works without upsetting anything else (e.g: programmes set for recording) is by scanning the Multiplex in question, selecting the manual tuning mode followed (in your case) by entering then scanning C55 (Dovers COM4).
If though on the other hand you are unable to view any of the aforementioned channels, then COM4 is not being received for reasons unknown, as no planned engineering work is being carried out anywhere in the UK this week, nor is anything listed (as yet) against Dover on the RTI fault reporting site.

Geoff: Purely for information purposes, Waltham is indicating perfectly normal strength / quality levels in my area (Stamford) with the exception of COM5 / ArqA. Although not being line-of-sight with said station the problem is possibly down to weather related terrain conditions.

Poor BBC Reception
Dear help
Can you advise please, if you can account for poor reception experienced recently:-
Date: Tuesday 5th January
Time: Noticed between 6pm & 11pm
Transmitter: Sandy Heath
Channels: SD channels BBC1, 2, 3, 4, News & Parliament; all other channels including HD channels unaffected
Symptoms: Picture break-up, loss of picture, weak signal message
Equipment: all about 15 months old or less, in new house, including Humax and BT Youview set-top units.
From 1pm today Wednesday all channels seem to be ok again, without the need for re-tuning - but some short-lived interference just noticed at 2.05pm on BBC News.
This has been a long-running temporary problem, for over a year, sometimes lasting for a day or two.
I would be gratefulfor your early comments please.
Kind regards

Michael Bicheno:
The one critical piece of information you have not given is your post code so we can determine which transmitter is best and what the reception conditions are as well as if there are any obstructions that may cause your problem.

Gerald Haughton:
The reason it tunes to Bilsdale is that that is the first transmitter signals seen by the TV as they are in Group A and is probably the strongest signals received as it is just 36km away. Emley Moor is Group B and is 64 km away. Where does you aerial point towards? Bilsdale is at a bearing of 346 degrees and Emley Moor at 221 degrees. If the aerial is not pointing at Emley Moor and is a Group A type then you will need an aerial installer to change the aerial and aim the new wideband (preferably a log-periodic) aerial to Emley Moor.
Does your TV have a manual tuning facility? It will be mentioned in the User Manual if it is available. If so, check on this website for the channels/frequencies used by Emley Moor and tune that TV using those figures.
(It is often suggested that people run the automatic tuning system with the aerial lead disconnected for the first part of the scan, but in this instance it will be difficult to ensure you get all the available multiplexes tuned in correctly.)

I live at HR1 4LD, and in the last 3 weeks the signal from Ridge Hill has been very poor, our neighbours have said that their reception is the same with a lot of interference and break up of the signal including freezing. Mainly on BBC channels, but sometimes BBC is ok and it affects other channels, last night 9/1/16 it was so bad that nearly all channels were affected..
Has the recent weather had anything to do with it??
I have re scanned the channels but it makes no difference.
