My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

i also got a "Database Empty" message but mine was on a box that had been used OK for some time.
An unplug for 30s and full re-scan seemed to fix it, although as i recall i had to do this twice.
There was no obvious cause.
Its usually powered off overnight and might have been off a few nights.

I've lost several freeview channels despite already being switched to digital ages ago (live in Swindon) and having good signal strength(as it seems have lots of people in the last few days). Lost Dave, Dave+1, ITV3, 5* and Five USA. I've tried your suggestion of retuning without the aerial and then retuning but no difference.

Hi,
I live in Sutton Coldfield, 4 miles from the transmitter. Since 21st Sept I have had a problem with both EPG and channel reception. Sometimes all channels have "no information", but usually it is just channel 5, and a few others. There is no reception for these channels at these times, but then, sometimes, the channels and EPG will start up and work.
I have tried the first time install suggestion and this has made no difference at all. I never leave the digital box switched on overnight.

My re-tune seemed to work well earlier today. All channels were received with good quality.
This evening (28th Sept), all multiplexer 1 channels (BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC News) are being received from Berks and North Hants, at poor signal strengths and quality.
All other channels continue to be received at excellent strength and quality from Beckley.
I have a modern digital arial placed outside on a chimney stack and aligned carefully on the Beckley transmitter. It feeds a Humax PVR.
Is there a problem with MUX 1 at Beckley this evening?
Regards
David Newton

Hi there, I just recently moved to my accommodation. I scanned for the channels and I seem to be missing multiplex 2, A and C (Seems like everyone else is missing these multiplex as well). I did everything as suggested above and removed anything which is interfering with the retuning process. I don't know what to do now because I already bought another Aerial cable and that didn't seem to do the trick, even though it fitted and is slightly different to my older aerial cable.

Hi. Since the work on the Mendip transmitter on 28 September we have lost some channels that were fine before. I have cleared and re-scanned as recommended several times but the result is the same. The TV (LG) and the digibox (Philips HD) are both little more than 6 months old. Not worried about the missing sales channels but am missing ITV3, Yesterday and Dave! Any help appreciated.

Bob: At only four miles from the transmitter you are very likely to be receiving an over powerful signal, and which can cause various sorts of problems by overloading your equipments tuner, the intermittent reception that you mention being one of them.
Should you be using any form of booster then it must be removed, or if you aren't then purchase a simple attenuator to place in line with the aerial socket to your TV / box.
Purely for a test of course, but if you have a set top aerial around try that.
