My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

30-9-2011. I live in a retirement home. I lost 54 channels at the recent changeover. After two days of trying to find the missing channels it transpired that the trouble was in the home's installation. An engineer came today and changed "the filters" took him five minutes. I now have 106 channels incuding ITV3 and ITV4 which had disappeared.
If you are in a multi-occupational dwelling and have lost channels, I suggest you get help from management.

Woohoo. Seems Mendip have sorted things maybe? As I did a rescan this morning, but had the same trouble with lost channels. Just got in from work, and did a rescan, and all the channels I did lose, I now have back :)

Worcester
Being in Worcester, I am on Sutton Coldfield (I think. I have lost access to the Freeview HD channels. I did have access to the HD channels until yesterday. All other channels tune correctly. I have tried manual tuning C40 (626MHz) but the box shows that there is no signal on that carrier. I have done all the usual resets, channel clearing and re-scans. Any idea?

Derby
Hi. I live in Derby and have a Bush brand new freeview box. All was great until a couple of days ago. As most people I have lost channels. When I retune I get a choice of 2 receptions East Midlands or West Midland. East Mids is always reccomended...but. I have lost no end of channels. On the EPG the channels that say no information i.e BBC1 they have great reception and the ones on EPG that do have info have poor reception. So I can't record. I have tried both transmitters and have different problems with both. This only happened 2-3 days ago? I am about ready to throw box out of window. I have followed all advice to no avail. Changed aerial leads etc etc help!!!!

Hi Paul Strutt: If you are receiving Sutton Coldfield your aerial should be pointing NNE with the rods horizontal.
If you have a booster/aerial amplifier you may now be getting too strong a signal, Try taking it out of circuit and then doing the full resets/scans again.

Hi Glenn: You have a choice of around 5 Transmitters where you are, so it depends which way your aerial is pointing and whether the rods are horizontal or vertical.
Your best signals should come from Waltham or Sutton Coldfield the latter being the strongest (West Midlands). In either case the rods should be hozizontal, Sutton Coldfield to the SW and Waltham is ESE. These are the only 2 transmitters that will give you all the MUXes.
If your aerial is pointing at the local Derby transmitter (WNW) this will be part of your problem. Which ever way it is pointing this local transmitter could still give a problem as it's BBC channels are in the same band as Sutton Coldfield (Group B). If you're using a booster/amplifier this may add to the problems giving too strong a signal.
Make sure you do a full factory reset/new install with the aerial unplugged from the box/set which will clear all previous settings. Then do a manual install without any booster/amplifier depending on which way your aerial is pointing as follows -
For Waltham (East Midlands) C61, C54, C56, C57, C29, & if it's an HD box C58.
For Sutton Coldfield (West Midlands) C43, C46, C45, C39, C42 & for HD C40.
If your aerial is not pointing at either of these with the rods horizontal, post back with details.

Thanks JimF - I will pass that info on as I've given the Philips box away and replaced it with a Sony digibox which was sitting upstairs having been displaced by a PVR. Sounds like a good plan though.

Thanks Chris. Turns out that after spending thirty quid on a tv/aerial expert to come out, that it is the Freeview box at fault and is confusing the signals from both transmitters. This was after I purchased gold tipped scarts numerous aerial cable and a booster!!!! Took back to Argos and they exchanged (after 30 day period) for a different make and model. Thanks for your advice anyway I am most grateful

We have a problem with our Techwood digibox 'forgetting' channels after being switched off.
This has only happened since the retune. We're at CV8 2PA, pointing at Sutton Coldfield, and an auto tune gets a full set of channels on 43, 46, 42, 45 and 39(+). However, after powering off (e.g. overnight - something we've always done with this box) it forgets everything on 46, 42 and 45.
We've tried manually adding the missing muxes, and we've tried blanking the list completely before re-scanning, with no joy.
It's fully reproducible - switching it off always loses those channels. After re-scanning it works absolutely fine until next powered off.
All help appreciated, or, failing that, recommendations for a reasonable entry-level HD digibox! ;-).
