Cannot get Aljazeera HD on Channel 108 as of today 2nd March 2016, after re-tuning my Samsung HD TV twice.
Could previously get Aljazeera SD on Channel 133.
I am using a Samsung HD TV.
My location is Station Road, North Elmham, near East Dereham in mid-Norfolk UK.
A Google search reveals others are in a similar position.
One source suggested Aljazeera HD would only be available to 70% of UK viewers. Is this true ?

Any solution to this yet as I cannot re-tune to channel 108, manual selection gets an invalid channel message. Godstone Surrey, Reigate transmitter.

Alan: "108" refers to the position in the HD section of the Freeview epg. Manual tuning requires that a frequency/UHF transmitter channel is entered into tuner, that being according to which transmitters are available at your location and whether they radiate the required services. Channel 108 is carried on COM7 which is not transmitted from Reigate. A check of which transmitters are available can be made by putting your postcode into the Digital UK postcode checker with the box ticked for the expanded view.

Can receive BBC HD channels but after numerous re tunings including deleting first still can not tune to 108 Aljazeera. Can not even enter channel manually would assume as I can receive the other HD channels should not have a problem but this is not the case. Live in Colchester Essex, driving me crazy tv is Sony Bravia with built in freeview. Any ideas?

Jackie: Aljazeera (108) is carried on the COM7 mux along with BBC4HD and BBC newsHD. The Sudbury transmitter does not carry this mix, viewers in Colchester who can receive it are usually tuned to Crystal Palace or (less likely) Tacolneston. Try a manual tune on C33 or C31 to see if there is any hint of a signal present. Manual selection of, say C33, without pressing store, should give an indication of the strength and quality of the signal, if present.

Is there a political or ideological reason why aljazeera is now unavailable to many households? I am extremely disappointed that freeview cancelled 133 channel for this important programme and it is NOT available on 108 even though my postcode says theoretically it is.

Carmen Schmidt : viewers in Dorking will only be able to receive the service on Freeview channel 108 if they receive tv signals direct from Crystal Palace. The decision to close the SD service was most likely taken by Al Jazera as a cost saving measure, the number of extra viewers served by the SD service who were not equipped to receive either COM7, satellite or cable did not justify the expense of transmitting a duplicated service to 70% of the population. A similar decision was recently made by the satellite broadcaster NHK when the SD service was switched off to save money, restricting reception to those viewers (by now the majority) who have HD satellite receivers

Annabelle: viewers shown as being able to receive the COM7 transmissions will still need a receiver which supports DVB-T2/ FreeviewHD, connected to an aerial that covers the frequencies used by COM7 (UHF C31 to C37) and preferably pointing to the appropriate transmitter. As with any tv signals there could be locations where reception is blocked by trees or tall buildings. Viewers receiving via a communal aerial might need to ask their landlord or property management company to adjust the aerial to enable the additional frequencies.
