From Wikipedia: The channel's annual budget for 2011/12 is 1,166.6 million.3 Along with the BBC's other domestic television stations, and many European broadcasters and some in Asia, it is funded principally by the television licence fee, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming with no commercial advertising at any time. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV1. This system used a vertically-scanned image of 30 lines just enough resolution for a close-up of one person, and with a bandwidth low enough to use existing radio transmitters. - en.wikipedia.org read more about BBC One (SD) on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Reading
I live at RG6 3AW in Lower Earley near Reading and as of about 2 weeks ago, I've lost all the BBC channels, I've tried the reset procedure. The obvious thing is that it might an aerial problem, however I can watch most of the other Freeview channels with near perfect clarity.
The BBC channels come in and out and some pixilate a lot. My aerial is pointed towards the Hannington transmitter.
Do I need a new aerial is there a problem with the transmitter?

I watched the final programme of the appentice.I thought it was brilliant, very very funny and a joy to watch.I must say the contestants were so very beautiful,I thought they could be models or actors.the clever panel and the host Dara were really entertaining and the star Lord Sugar himself gave out a good all round picture of himself such an ordinary but brilliant to listen to. more of this kind of T.V.Can our family suggest a junior version of this type of programme.thank you so much for such fun on a sunday the family moulton.

john mckinnon: As you havent mentioned the transmitter you are receiving from this possibility cannot be checked on, but should it be one that has just switched over to high power operation on BBC channels (e.g: Emley Moor) your signal could be too strong and is causing blocking on your tuner.
If using a booster try by-passing it, or using an attenuator in line with the aerial socket.
