To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

gibson: If you are referring to Waltham, then its likely that when you re-scanned you have picked up a number of (if not all!) channels with lower numbers from Sutton Coldfield or Belmont, as indications show that this is possible from your location.

Waltham uses Mux channels 29 - 54 - 56 - 57 - 58 - 61, so whilst viewing any channel that might be breaking up, carry out a signal strength / quality check noting the Mux channel number being shown, and if its not one on the list its not from Waltham.

By the way, you might not receive Mux Ch29 very good,as its on lower power until October 12th.

I am currently experiencing low signal reception on all my freeview channels despite doing 4 full resets throughout the course of the day, prior to this everything was working perfectly have had new aerial installed on roof approx 6 months ago and not experienced any problems until now.

Briantist thanks for the info but I had already looked at these pages and tried the suggestions before posting the question and the problem still remains. However does having more than one box installed affect the signal at all cos I have no problems on the other box

Thanks for the note jb38. I'll try your suggestions also. As a note - shortly after posting my problem on here, I tried switching my Hummy of, unplugging the arial, switch on, re-tuned to get it blanked, plugged in the aerial and then re-scanned... guess what... I got all the channels I was faffing about but no BBC channels! What a laugh! Later in the evening after 9pm, I did another automatic re-tune and hey presto, everything was back again! Could it be a problem that DigitalUK is messing with the frequencies and subsequently confusing my Humax? Could they also be working on the transmitters? Freeview would be great if these thing didn't keep happening. It might just drive me to fork out a few bob for cable or satellite, though we wouldn't watch half of it - what a shame to have to pay for something you can get for free?

If I do a "Factory Reset" on my Humax to try and restore the missing EPG, will I lose the programmes I have already recorded?
Thanks for any help

sue spicer: No, you will not erase any recorded programmes.

Paul Smith: You should be able to run a few boxes from the same aerial with no problems at all. Often the problem is actually the "aerial fly leads" and not a problem with the box itself.

I receive all my TV signals from Sutton Coldfield.
Upto Sept 2010, I could receive all digital stations using a roof-mounted E/W wideband aerial with a masthead amplifier.

Picture and sound quality has always been excellent!

In Sept 2010 I was advised to re-tune my freeview box as a number of channels had changed.

As a result, I lost Film4, ITV4, Smooth Radio & Yesterday, all of which are transmitted on MUX D (which uses Ch 55).

Since then, despite multiple 'First-Time' re-installations, my freeview box has been unable to detect any signal on Ch55 (apart from one isolated incident when my freeview box was able to show ITV4 and Film4 for just one evening! However, Ch55 disappeared the next day!).
I have repeated the above procedure using a second freeview box and have had the same experience.

I have relatives who live about a mile away and their experience is exactly the same as mine.

I was hoping that this issue would be resolved on 07/09/11.

However, according to this website, only mux 1 will be transmitting on full power until 21/09/11.

Why was my freeview box able to receive MUXes 1,2,A,B & C but not D when they were all transmitting at 8KW?

Also, will I be able to receive ITV4 and Film4 after 21/09/11 when MUXD becomes ARQB on Ch39?
