John Mitchell: Yes, I fully agree with what you have said as I also view BBC4 HD offerings, however the whole idea is have all programmes in the future being broadcast from the more efficient DVB-T2 (HD) transmitters, the more commonly used DVB-T (SD) transmitters eventually being decommissioned.

BBC4 HD seems to be ceased. The screen message suggests that some viewers will no longer be able to receive. BBC 3 has gone, is BBC 4 next? On-line stalls at local internet speeds of about 5 megabits/sec.

Beema525: BBC4 HD has moved back to the COM7 multiplex which is where it has always been prior to it's temporary move to PSB3 in order to provide increased coverage for the duration of the Olympics.

The BBC Four HD debacle and that is what it is, drives me mad, how come we can all enjoy the station for 2/3 weeks and then it is taken from us(Mendip), come on whoever is in charge of the mess that is Freeview in the UK, sort the bloody thing out.
Just returned from Spain where I not only have channels from 21 through to 68, which is fantastic in itself, but I can receive HD programmes on an indoor aerial!

Bill McDonald: BBC 4 HD has always been broadcast from Mendip both before and after it's temporary move for the Olympics. Indoor aerials generally work fine in areas of strong signal so presumably you were close to the transmitter in Spain. Freeview works as it was designed, there is no mess for those in charge to sort out.

Bill McDonald: StevensOnln1, Sorry Steve can't agree, UHF in the UK has been destroyed by greedy money men, and we get a cut down Freeview service. You cannot receive half of the HD channels in the area of Yeovil that I live in. Only BBC1,2,ITV1,CH4,& CH5 are available here and this applies to me and all my neighbors, Freesat is our only option.

I agree with you Bill. We have the same poor selection here in Brighton. For a major city to be so badly served is a pretty pathetic state of affairs given how hard the freeview option was pushed at the outset. The removal of BBC 3HD hasn't made the list look any better and then to find you have a blank HD channel (one of the two children's channels) taking up an HD space every evening is just plain annoying.

Bill McDonald: Hi John, sorry to hear you are suffering from the same nonsense, I think what really annoyed me was that the signal was boosted OK for the Olympics, which I have nothing against. Then we were returned to a blank screen directly after the event, something not right there I think. Plus totally agree on removal of BBC3 and the waste of the space with a stupid 'We have gone to bed' screen on an HD channel.

Deeply annoyed that BBC 4 HD no longer available in Maidstone on my new-ish Panasonic PVR (ie I cannot record today's Prom in HD, whereas I DID so earlier in August).
We can still get BBC 4 HD on the Samsung set, but I cannot understand why the PVR does not receive this fine station.
Any ideas?

Steven Seeds: Have you as yet carried out a retune on your Panasonic HD recorder?, as BBC4HD moved from its temporary slot (for the Olympics) on PSB3 back to the COM7 HD multiplex transmitting on Mux 32 / 562.0 mhz.
