By providing a full postcode (such as W1A 1AA), national grid reference (for example SE123456) or latitude, longitude pair (like 54, -0.5) this page will provide a map, terrain plot and detailed information of the location showing the UK and RoI television transmitters that it is possible you receive Freeview, Freeview HD, Youview, BT TV and Saorview from.

(Don't know your postcode? Find it at Post Office Postcode finder).

UK Free TV uniquely shows you transmitter coverage maps, aerial to transmitter terrain plots, the closest 10 mobile phone masts (for possible 5G-at-800 interference) as well as tabulated information (sorted by direction, by received signal strength, by frequency, by service names or by transmitter name).

The new HD TV was tuned in by the engineer set to the Mendip Transmitter. The strange thing is that the NO SIGNAL generally appears when I switch the TV On, it tends to be OK as the evening progresses.

The Firestick is set to my wifi settings and comes on when I transfer to the HDMI connection. The AMAZON logo appears and then the FIRESTICK logos but instead of logging on to menu screen it goes back to the AMAZON logo!
**The same Firestick works on the upstairs telly! ***

raymond harris: That sounds like you're suffering with interference from something operating on a timer, or possibly have a bad connection somewhere.

How is the Fire stick being powered? Is it connected to a USB port on the TV? If so, try connecting it via the mains adaptor which should have been supplied in the box (the TV's USB port may not be providing enough power for the Fire stick to operate properly).

Ref the TV I will check the outside aerial connections.

The Firestick is connected through the mains adaptor, I have also tried different ports on the TV.

raymond harris: You havn't read the manual for the Firestick, have you? Or looked at the instructions on the internet?https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202106780 , because I have no idea what you mean by 'mains adapter', and it will only go into an HDMI port.

MikeB: The Fire sticks I've recently setup are powered by a micro USB cable which connects from the Fire stick to either a USB port on the TV or the 5V USB mains adaptor supplied in the box. The link you posted to the setup instructions on Amazon shows this.

StevensOnln1: Exactly - which is why I was wondering about 'different ports'....

Is it not possible for those living in a fringe area where the main channels sometimes carry a different regional program for freeserve viewers to have the choice of regional services in their area? Is it not possible to achieve this by using the current "red button" technology?

Nick Anderson: Broadcasting extra regions on Freeview would mean that additional broadcast capacity would be needed, which could only happen by taking capacity from other channels. The only other way to do it would be via Red Button+ where additional content is made available via your internet connection (this requiring a smart or internet connected TV/set top box) and of course you can watch regional news from any region on iPlayer.
