Thanks for the prompt reply, I appreciate that the ERP is much lower on the Local M Multiplex. (and looking at the target area Winter Hill isn't really the best place for it! )
I don't have a signal strength meter but if it's any help as a comparator I can receive the main multiplexes with a long piece of wet string, or a pair of rabbit ears!
M45 area, am I able to message my postcode directly to you?
regards

Mike, thanks for the reply.
My comments about the signal strength were from having looked at various TV's Signal strength/quality indicators.
Other multiplexes are showing 95 to 100% with no errors on the SD channels and some (concealed) errors on the HD Multiplexes.
The LM Multiplex is showing approx. 18% with no errors. Pity I never looked at the Local strength before the recent retune.
I think I'd be more likely to cause interference issues on the good channels if I were to boost the signal.
I'd be interested to hear what sort of strength others are seeing when comparing the main multiplexes with the Local M, when their locations are similar, although It's unlikely anyone else would be interested as the audience share is tiny.
Sorry about the postcode thing, I finally figured out how to enter it!
Thanks for all your help.

Just a curiosity - how do Winter Hill transmitter engineers measure the field strength coverage? Is it all theoretical or do they go to pre-defined locations and actually measure it?
Thanks

I'm not sure if posting a link to another website is allowed, but I was curious as to the above DVB identifiers. A search led me to:-
DVB Services
where these identifiers and descriptors are explained.
However finding a maintained current list of TSIDs (Transport Stream Identifiers) has proved to be rather more difficult...

Robert McMillan:
Hi Robert
Few subtitles are generated on the fly by voice decoding, mainly those for contemporaneous content, so silence should not affect the majority of pre-recorded programme subtitles.
As much as I appreciate all of your insightful posts (thank you for sharing) this website's primary function is to help people with TV reception problems.
There are many other forums online portals more suited to your post content, bear in mind that the admin freely give of their time to uphold this website, so let's try to keep the signal to noise ratio high.
Your co-operation would be greatly appreciated by all who come to this technical website hoping only to find answers to their reception issues. Thank you.

Location North Manchester South of Bury, I almost have line-of sight to Winter Hill
I now have very poor signal strength, verging on unusable only on Ch56 multiplex LM (H=-20dB). (That's Manchester)
I appreciate that the ERP is much lower on this multiplex, so perhaps that's now as good as it gets?
All other multiplexes are almost full strength so I know it's not an aerial issue, although I must admit my aerial could be a tad more directional which might help exclude the Welsh multiplexes (I've tweaked it anyway just to check/optimise).
I suspect reception was better on this channel before the latest re-tune although I never looked at it critically as it was OK (pre August 2017) Anyone else finding similar issues?
All other multiplexes are almost full strength so I know it's not an aerial issue (I've tweaked it anyway just to check/optimise).
Looking at the coverage map it shows I'm in the yellow region (may get interference), but as I said it seemed Ok previously.
