Robert: Who's doing very well out of it? The BBC is a public corporation, it has no private shareholders and doesn't distribute any dividends.

Stephen Pemberton: That is correct, the same change has already taken place at various other transmitters. COM7 & COM8 are moving to form single frequency networks (SFNs) on UHF channels 55 & 56 which form the centre gap of the new 700MHz mobile band which is due to be auctioned off next year to be used for 5G services by the mobile networks. Ofcom have announced that the centre gap will be used to provide additional downlink capacity but don't expect this to come into use straight away, therefore COM7 & COM8 will be allowed to remain on UHF 55 & 56 until whichever mobile networks buy the centre gap SDL spectrum in the auction are ready to bring it into use (at which point COM7 & COM8 will close). This allows COM7 & COM8 to keep broadcasting for longer, without taking up any frequency allocation in the remaining DTT spectrum. See the Ofcom link below for further details.

Robert: I'm not trying to start an argument, I don't consider myself an armchair specialist and I'm certainly not here to play word games. Your earlier post was vague and talking about the profits made by a non-profit organisation sounded nonsensical. I'm not personally concerned at the amount earned by talent working for the BBC. If they didn't pay the going rate they would loose much of that talent, leaving the viewer worse off. Do many middle/top level BBC management earn significantly more than the people in similar roles at other comparable organisations? I'm not sure what Donald Trump's business dealings have to do with it. Perhaps you could clarify by providing some examples along with sources to backup your figures?

david mitchell: Digital UK show COM7 & COM8 as being available from Sandy Heath until at least 2020. Retuning was a bad idea as you've now deleted the tuning data for these multiplexes which were previously tuned correctly. If you've had a recent issue with weak signal then you may well have a fault somewhere in your aerial system, with COM7 & COM8 being the worst affected due to them being broadcast at much lower power. If you provide a full postcode we can see the predicted signal strength at your location, which may help someone offer further advice.

Robert: Why should I carry out investigations to prove your claims? If you want people to believe what you claim, offering evidence is the best way to do that. Demanding that other people find the evidence to back up your claims make it sound like you're only interested in promoting your point of view, rather than having a reasoned discussion.

Anthony J B Graham: That has nothing to do with Brexit. RTE have only purchased the rights to show it in Ireland. The BBC hold the rights to show Killing Eve in the UK, RTE would face legal action if they made it available on their catchup player outside of Ireland.

Mary Gavin: When the work is finished, which is usually by the end of the day. They never say how long engineering work will take as there can be numerous delays caused by weather conditions, damage to equipment, the state of the transmitter mast, etc. Do not attempt to retune whilst the work is in progress.

Amanda Thomas: The Corsham transmitter does not appear to have changed frequency. Does your TV have some sort of automatic retune option in the menu? It sounds like your TV may retuning on its own and picking up a different transmitter. If you provide a full postcode we will be able to see which transmitters are available at your location and your predicted coverage, which will enable further advice to be offered.

Nedbod: There are no plans for any channels to be removed from the Glossop transmitter, which is a Freeview Lite relay broadcasting only the PSB1/2/3 multiplexes. The only multiplexes which are planned for closure are COM7 & COM8, which have never been broadcast from Glossop.

Nedbod: I am well aware that Channel 4 HD and All4 were removed from Freesat last year, as I use it ever day on our main TV. It is still the best option for viewers who cannot receive the full lineup of Freeview channels and do not wish to subscribe to Sky or Virgin.
