john parker: According to the engineering post which has appeared since you posted, the Sailsbury transmitter is off air for planned engineering work which began at approximately 10:35 this morning. It doesn't say when the work will be completed, but most engineering work is done by early evening. Transmitter work is often weather dependant, making it difficult to notify in advance of when the work will take place. Do not attempt to retune.

Malcolm Rankin: Stanton Moor is a Freeview Lite transmitter, the only radio stations carried are the BBC National and a few BBC local stations. There is no DAB coverage predicted to LBC at your postcode, so your best option is to listen either online or via satellite.

Linds: If you can receive a local TV station on Freeview channel 7 or 8 then you will also get Sony Movies Christmas (formerly True Movies) and Sony Channel (formerly True Entertainment) as both channels are broadcast on the local TV signal only.

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter
Sunday 15 September 2019 10:41AM

Sally: Sony Movies Christmas is broadcast on the local TV mux, make it available in areas where a local TV station is broadcast on Freeview channel 7 or 8. This includes some, but not all, of the areas served by Winter Hill.

Mr Paul Freeman: The only thing that has been lost are the temporary COM7 and COM8 multiplexes which carry additional HD and SD channels, which were only ever available from 30 main transmitters covering around 70% of UK households. As part of the 700MHz clearance program, Arqiva (the operator of COM7&8) have decided to close these services at 5 transmitters including Caradon Hill, rather than pay the costs of re-engineering them to broadcast on a different frequency for another couple of years when they are expected to close completely.

Lloyd Jenkins: I think MikeP was looking at the wrong listing. According to Digital UK, HD services from Waltham are currently: PSB3 on UHF channel 58 (moving to 35 early next year), COM7 on UHF 31 (moving to 55 early next year) and COM8 on UHF 56. Freeview channels 101-105 are all broadcast on PSB3 so UHF channel 58 is the one to check for signal strength and quality. There are engineering notices showing from earlier this month, but as no one else is reporting a problem it's unlikely that anything is wrong at the transmitter.

Richard White: According to engineering notices on the Dover page, the transmitter was off air for around 3 hours yesterday morning (no reason is given). Have you checked again since then to see if UHF channel 33 has returned?

Phil: 90% signal strength is plenty (maybe even too high for some tuners) and 80% quality is hardly anything to worry about. What sort of problems have you been experiencing? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc.

Hefin: There are no faults showing for Carmel. Retuning was the worst thing to do as it will never fix a sudden loss of signal and you've now deleted your correctly tuned channels. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc.
