Hi my aerial is based in the loft space with a booster.
Recently a developer has built flats in line with the aerial and since they have put the roof on we have lost all BBC channels. Do the developers have any obligations to put this right for myself and other residents?

No. There is no right in laws concerning development for any consideration to be given to TV reception, nor even a general 'right to light', contrary to common belief.
Consequently, there is no way you nor anyone else can claim from the developer.
When Canary Wharf in London's Docklands was built many years ago, it all but destroyed UHF TV reception for large areas in the Lee Valley as that is directly the opposite side of the towers from Crystal Palace. A Court case rejected the need for the developers to either compensate locals affected or even to do anything to right the problem caused.

CJ: It doesn't mean that any new building has had an effect - causation is not certain, just a possibility, and why would they be just the BBC channels? It could be that the aerial system has developed a problem, perhaps a loose connection, etc. And check that the booster is working fine.
However, you do have an alternative - your reception, according to DigitalUK, is almost as good from Oxford as it is from Mendip. You could just change the direction the aerial faces and see if its OK.

Hi, I have an unexplained problem which is evident in both Satellite and terrestrial HD channels (Postcode:
S45 9EQ). I will try to explain my setup as briefly as possible, and then outline the problem(s).
1. The aerial system in my house is comparatively complicated. I have a loft-mounted, high gain aerial directed to the East Midlands transmitter, which is out-putted through two in-line boosters, the second of which has several output sockets which feed to points in my living room, master bedroom, computer room and dining room. Because I also have satellite boxes, the living room and master bedroom pass through two separate duplex arrangements (one cable through the wall in each case). I have for years used Fortec Star Passion+ sat boxes, updating their software / firmware from time to time. My digiboxes have varied but, concentrating on my living room, my latest digiboxes have been the August DVB-400 and DVB-415, the latter being an "improved" version of the 400.
2. Fortec Star (FS) no longer support the Passion+, although their website still has old downloads available. Their October 2010 software worked OK for all free HD channels until some time in 2014, when the BBC and Ch4 channels no longer gave a satisfactory viewing experience in that the picture was 'jerky' and often held one frame for anything from 1 second to several seconds, the sound being continuous. I found that the FS software dated September 2009 did not have this problem, but is unacceptable for other reasons. I have been unable to find anyone who can explain what changed in the broadcasts that caused this problem to manifest itself!
3. Having 'discovered' the August DVB-400 digibox, I found that my free HD channels were OK but, there is another problem with this box, so I purchased the DVB-415. Unfortunately, with the DVB-415 I get the same 'jerky' effect with BBC and Ch4 channels as I do with my sat box. Both models claim to receive "TV DVB-T2", but the DVB-415 gives a choice of auto-scan (DVBT/DVBT2 or DVBT), the instructions tell me to use the first of the options.
Can anyone explain why I do not get consistently good reception?

Hello. Something weird happened 90 mins ago. I live in a strong Crystal Palace reception area in NW London. At approx 11.10 am today my TV suddenly popped up a message "No signal, aerial failure...". Black screen. Tried another TV, same thing. Fearing the worst I went up into the loft looking for blown booster, gnawed cable, etc. and then my wife said: "They are back!". Sure enough, all was well again. I looked on this site and it has listed at 11.09 am several faults and maintenance works at various transmitters, but not CP.
I am currently looking at TV on an old box which is working fine. My local barometric pressure is not unduly high (30.3) and steady. Do you reckon it was their Friday cleaner pulling the master plug or can you offer any other thoughts?
Thanks

Mike Gordon: It sounds like something in your system is dying, but not yet dead...
Have another check - a loose connection, etc. I'd think we'd all have heard if CP was out for 3 hours or more, so it looks like the ball is in your court.

Mike Gordon: Purely in the interest of clarification. When you refer to currently looking at TV on an old box which is working fine, are you meaning that the situation has reverted to normal?

I cannot get an answer to this question: I have posted now 3 times: Can someone explain why ITV Encore on Satellite Channel 123 is being blocked by Sky TV in that you have to subscribe to Sky TV in order to receive it?
This channel should be free as it is an ITV channel

Michael: Because it's a commercial channel, therefore it can decide where it's available and for what charge.
Only the BBC TV and radio services, ITV (the main ITV channel only)/STV (part of Scotland)/UTV (Northern Ireland), Channel 4 and Channel 5 have an obligation to be available for free on all platforms, this being because they are Public Service Broadcasters.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the Answer? Also Channel 5 HD has to be subscribed to watch through Sky TV? OFCOM have never addressed why so many Channels are blocked by Sky TV. Even channel Dave and others that are available on Freeview are charged for by Sky TV and I don't understand it?
