All the other transmitters will have Freeview HD at switchover.
The "advanced service" is on unknown frequencies, so it is possible that there might be different coverage to standard Freeview and a wideband aerial might be required. The advanced services will move to their correct frequencies at switch-over.
You will need an HDTV and a new Freeview HD box to view the service, and a roof top aerial will be essential.

Terry: These are text services. For example, logical channel number (LCN) 106 is "Mail Travel TV". I just went on it and it said to press the Text button on the remote which I did and this then came up with a the logo for the Daily Mail and a text page.
BBC Red Button is another such service which is on LCN 105, although it is also available by pressing text or the red button on any BBC standard definition service.
Personally I set all these to skip.
See here for a full list of services:
DTG :: DTT Services by Multiplex
At the top of the page is the configuration pre-switchover (pre-DSO) and below that is post-switchover (post-DSO).
Each table shows a multiplex, which is a single signal that carries multiple services.

We have a Sony Full HD tv. The digital switchover has been completed today, live in the North East with aerial towards the Bilsdale transmitter. The tv has been re-tuned but we have been unable to get any of the HD channels. If anyone out there is able to give us any clue as to what we need to do to get the HD channels then we would really appreciate a reply. Thanks

Carole: What model of Sony TV do you have? as the term full HD is sometimes used incorrectly in the technical sense albeit legally correct.

Hi jb38, thanks for your reply sorry that I haven't been in touch before now. The tv is a Sony Bravia KDL40W5500. We still have the box in our garage so will be able to check the exact wording tomorrow but we are sure that it was sold as a 40" Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview and 100z Motionflow. Hope that this may be of some help to you and you may be able to give us some avice about the HD channels.
Regards
Carole

Carole: Just had a check at the technical specifications for that model and regret to say that according to the info its only fitted with a DVB-T tuner, devices capable of actually receiving an HD signal have to be of the DVB-T2 specification.
The TV will of course will be able to provide an HD picture, but only if its being fed into the set via an HDMI socket.

Hi jb38, thanks for your help and advice, seems we didn't buy exactly what we thought we were buying. Oh well, that's life I suppose too late to take the telly back.

Carole: Speaking as an engineer I think its quite appalling the way these devices are allowed to be advertised, as although it may well be perfectly worded in the legal sense in the moral sense it isn't, as even I who have been involved in this field for years have (on occasions) to check the spec of a device to know if its actually capable of HD reception or not.
