My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

mags1: Because radio waves cannot pass through dense water laden clouds, you can simulate this effect by simply throwing a wet towel over your dish as the result of doing would be exactly the same, that is should anyone actually do such a thing!

eugat: Sky are great but they sometimes line the dish for signal strength not signal quality. If under 12 months get sky back to line it up better or get a local inderpendant this could help than only very heavy rain will affect it hope this helps

karen: Can you get access to the Sky boxes menu? if so press "services" on your Sky remote control then use the up/down arrows to highlight "system setup" and press select, then use the up/down arrows to scroll down to "signal test" then press select.
Do you see anything indicated as far as strength / quality is concerned? if not then although this is unlikely to apply check that the LNB settings are OK.
The procedure is /
1:- Press Services.
2:- Highlight System Setup (4) and press select.
3:- Press "0 - 1 - select" and you should now see the installers menu, scroll to and press on LNB set up and check if what's seen indicated matches up with the under mentioned.
Low frequency - 9.75
High Frequency - 10.60
The LNB power supply should always be set to on.
The 22KHz Command should always be set to on.
If anything doesnt then press the red button to re-set the default settings, then using the up/down arrows, highlight "save new settings" and press select. (press the red button anyway even if they are seen to match up)
If after doing this you still cannot receive anything then the dish could be out of alignment or the cable / "F" connector at the dish end could be waterlogged, the only other thing left being the possibility of the box itself having failed, not exactly unheard of!

Jack Garside: If you have seen zero signal strength / quality being indicated when (if?) you pressed "services - 4 - 6" then this can be caused by either the dish having been knocked out of alignment, a coax / "F" connector problem, or that the LNB has developed a fault, although this would only usually affect one of the two channels used by the Sky+ box and so try a test by swapping the two input "F" connectors over, if still nothing then it could be that your box has developed a fault, and which in warm weather could be the usual of the power supply having failed. If though on the other hand when you had pressed the aforementioned the signal strength / quality "was" indicating but at only about 50% or so then the dish is only very slightly out of alignment, usually rectified by giving it a slight nudge on either its left or right hand side, as the normal levels are around 70%+. You should also check the settings on the LNB, although its unlikely that this would have changed. 1:- Press Sky followed by "Services". 2:- Highlight System Setup and press Select. 3:- Press 0 then 1 then Select. 4:- Press Select again to access the LNB setup screen. 5:- Press the "Red" button to re-set the default settings. 6:- Using the up/down arrows, highlight "Save New Settings" and press Select. 7:- Press Select to confirm that the settings have been reset. The correct settings are / Low frequency - 9.75. High Frequency- 10.60. The LNB power supply should always be set to on. The 22KHz Command should always be set to on.
