My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

claire: If you are connected into a communal aerial system? then you should contact the building maintenance department, as no faults (nor engineering work) is listed against the Blackhill transmitter station which covers your area.

michael macneil: Your problem is due to engineering work which is presently in progress at the Skriaig (Skye) transmitter, a notice warning of "Possible service interruptions" having been posted in the "Planned engineering work" page and which affects all relays in the chain from same, these being Clettravel - Daliburgh - then in your case Kilbride.

Jenny: As no faults are listed against the Sudbury transmitter nor is any engineering work taking place at same, the problem is likely down to a fault having developed in your aerial system, start by checking the jumper lead connected into your TV's aerial socket.
If by any chance you are connected into a shared aerial system? it would be prudent to enquire if others are also experiencing similar problems with reception.

Marlow
My elderly neighbour reports that he loses the TV aerial signal for around 30 seconds every day at 12:30 pm.
His aerial is aligned with Crystal Palace. No-one else seems to have this problem!
(So could this be his TV ??)
We are in Marlow, Bucks (Post Code SL7 3QP)
Any thoughts??

It could be local interference from electriv=cal equipment nearby, either in the house or a neighbours. Chech for anything that switches on or off at that time.

We are in an area where we can receives from both Sutton Coldfield or Brierley Hill transmitters
My 91 year old mother has just moved about half a mile down the road to a block of brand new sheltered apartments with a communal aerial. We plugged in the TV set expecting the channels to be more or less the same but unfortunately this was not the case. We have tried a full retune 3 time but each time all we get is a jumble of channels with no BBC 1 or 2 at all. The BBC HD channels are in the correct place 101, 102 but everything else is all over the place with many other channels also missing. She is missing lots of her normal programs and it is making her very unhappy in her new home. Please advise.

Anita Shilvock: Assuming that the aerial connection in your mother's apartment is being fed with a suitable signal from the communal aerial, it would appear that the transmitter chosen to serve the care home is different to that used previously for you mother's tv. It is possible that weaker signals from The Wrekin or Ridge Hill are being found and the frequencies stored at the start of the scan, then the correct ones are overlooked as duplicates. Alternatively the tv tuner might be one which retains information previously stored until a "delete all channels" or a factory reset/return to shipping conditions is selected from the menu to purge the tuner of unwanted information. Initially try scanning for channels with no aerial connected to see if the tuner is cleared of all channels. Once the tuner is clear try performing a retune. If this again results in incorrect channel storage it will be necessary to insert the transmitter channels manually or retune with the aerial unplugged whilst the scan passes over the frequencies used by unwanted transmitters in order to avoid them, plugging it back in for the required signals. In either case you will need to check which transmitter is being used by the communal aerial in order to work out which set of frequencies are required. Sutton Coldfield requires the aerial to be mounted with the rods horizontal, Brierley Hill however will require the rods to be vertical. Further information can be given if required.
