Please note there is an 4G mast (EE)serving the Glenbarr area.

Anne Littleson:

Oh dear, thanks for the info. It seems as though you are in a difficult reception area as it is!!
It's likely your predicted reception is from the Limavady transmitter in Northern Ireland. If you are getting a signal from another transmitter, please advise.

If you are having problems with reception as a result of this mobile mast, you should have received a postcard from https://restoretv.uk and you can get a free filter from them - see that website - click on Contact Us and ring them 0808-1313-800 it's a free call.

Hi. I have an interesting problem. Following some reception troubles last year with the Nottingham repeater, I am now receiving signal from Sutton Coldfield. Everything is much better, with one exception. I have a Panasonic tv and a Humax Aura 4k PVR. The Panasonic receives all channels correctly but the Humax is missing channels 12 and 71(COM6). All other COM6 channels are present so, as far as I can tell, the problem is restricted to the two Quest channels.

Quest+1 (channel 70 on COM5) is fine.

Humax don't have an answer to this, nor do Quest, so I'm just looking desperately for some inspiration!!

Thanks.

Ted Slater:

Not familiar with your PVR (don't know if StevensOnln1 can add any comment) I assume Humax have suggested Resets etc.?

What I can say is three things -
First, there was a shuffle around of some of the high end LCN TV channels on the COM multiplexes back on March 22nd. LCN71 is now "That's 60s" on COM5.
For details see Updates and alerts | Freeview
Also see Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview which should be an up-to-date list of which TV channels are on which multiplex.
Second, some devices get their memory mixed up with such changes when you do a retune and TV channels can end up in the 800's for example. You could try a further retune and see if that resolves things by unplugging the aerial, doing a full retune which might clear memory with no channels found, plug the aerial back in and repeat the retune BUT a note of caution, some PVRs might loses correct linking of recordings!
Third, a full reset of the PVR might be needed, but again you may lose recordings!

We recently stayed in a holiday centre in Somerset on the Bristol Channel coast and could only get the channels from Wales which should have been for the west of England. Surely this should not be.

Nicholas Anderson: Presumably the aerial was pointed at Wenvoe rather than Mendip. If you put the postcode into the Freeview detailed coverage checker (see link below) you'll be able to see whether Mendip (or any of it's relays) are predicted to be receivable.

Some parts of that coastline are very tricky for Freeview from anywhere other than Wenvoe or Kilvey Hill. As StevensOnln1 says, see what the checker gives.

Chris.SE - thanks as always for your thoughts.

I have reset the box (twice, at great inconvenience, I might say, as it loses the saved schedule!) but it made no difference. The odd thing is that the guide can "see" that channel 12 is there as it puts in a slot for it and labels the slot correctly as Quest. It's just that there is no programme data and no signal when selecting it.

I can live with Quest+1 fore the few programmes I want - it only annoys me in an OCD sort of way.

Thanks again
