My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.
brendan: It is covered on the Waltham - retune required Wednesday 13 April 2011 | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice page.
The TV Licence has to be paid regardless of your reception problems, and as I am sure you know pays for BBC services only.

Craig: Well, yes, you had to retune because of the change at Waltham - Waltham - retune required Wednesday 13 April 2011 | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
You do have another option, you can now get all Freeview services from the Nottingham transmitter, if you move your aerial to point at it.

As soon as I scanned for new channels on Cambridge switchover day, I seem to have lost VIVA, Channel 4 music, Film 4 and ITV4. Will I never get them back? How can they disappear, I have been able to watch those channels for over 2 years.

my tv is completely down too. It has a built in freeview, yet last night it just lost all signal. Tried re-tuning, and it found nothing!!
Already hating this completely digital switchover, they just weren't ready to do it yet.

Hi KMJ, Derby
Thanks for comments, very helpful. I have since found and installed a firmware upgrade from Sony. Unfortunately I still lose the channels, but now in a different way - when the machine switches to standby. I feel you are on the right track, suggesting the analogue tuner as the culprit - just got to find a way of disabling it. I've asked Sony, but not holding my breath!

Hi,
The re-setting procedure given didn't work for my Humax Fox2 set-top box. However, selecting the 'reset to default' option and then re-installing worked fine

Briantist.........whilst its good of you to refer us to various information pages/sites, this has not provided any solutions. It is clear that the total disappearance of the 2 channels/bands which include all the ITV services is caused by something that Digital Uk & their transmitters have done. Do you know why no public announcements have been made about this amazing loss of service. Not a word in the papers or onTV Regional news. I have now also lost ITV analogue signals . My post code is DA13 0SJ, and up until 13 April I received BBC/ITV etc from Bluebell Hill ( which reports no problems or engineering !1)

TV reception breaking up on several channels following 20/4. All resets have been done several times. Very annoyed as we have upgraded our aerial and added a booster at a cost. Seems to me that this switchover is a total shambles. Typical - seems to me from your message that you are expecting rude comments. Says it all.
