My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Gill: If the dish works with a Freesat box but not the Sky one then its the latter that is faulty, as the dish responds the same to any satellite box connected to it, irrespective of what it is.

I have never used the dish before and tried it for first time before I posted and got no reply.
I still need to know how I can find out if the dish and its connections are working

Hi there...great website. I have a really puzzling question. I use my sky+ box when touring in my motorhome around Britain and France. I use a 60cm dish with twin LNB and 2 cables. Only when I am away I keep getting a no satelitte message on BBC 1 & 2, Channel 4 & 5 and various others right throughout the menu. It is always the same channnels that are missing.
If I press the manual record button whilst on ITV, the missing channels come up. It will record 2 channnels at a time i.e BBC1 and ITV at the same time. As soon as I stop the manual record on ITV the channels are missing again. It particularly hates channel 5 which recording fails eveytime.
The strength and quality on both inputs are fine. I have tried resetting the LNB and updating the software etc.
When I get home [London] and set it up indoors, the box works perfectly fine.
The difference of equipment between being in the motorhome and at home is the Dish, cables and LNB are different.....Any Ideas?
