To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

wen: Unfortunately its quite impossible to advise on a reception problem without being able to check on the reception possibilities applicable to the area of the person making the enquiry, you not having mentioned your location.

If you supply this, preferably in the form of a post code for more accuracy, then further assistance can be given.

Again no or poor signal for "multiplexes" 1, 2, A, and B after having a few hours of good signal for them all. This started happening on Thurday evening and I have no idea why.

My post code is BH22 0LT and the transmitter is Rowridge.

Robert - the dissapearance of Mux 2 is due to the fact it operates in 64QAM mode and on channel 68 (at the top end of the spectrum and only transmits at 10KW ERP. After DSO (28th September as no doubt you will be aware) the power increases to 100KW and the problems will dissapear.

I have had freeview working well on all channels but there has been a few new channels added so I did a re-tune to get the other channels. I have now lost BBC 1,2 & 3. I still get BBC News, BBC 4 and CBBC. The signal on BBC News is as good as any other channel. I've tried a manual search on UHF 50 but still not getting 1,2 or 3. The aerial is mounted on the roof. The freeview is built in to the TV. Location is SP105PL Andover. Any suggestions please

Tim: If you have a booster or amplifier, try removing it from your system. If you don't, you may have to fit an attenuator. Also check the Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice page.

I am about to buy a freeview set top box with the approach of the switch off of the analogue signal.
But my TV system at the moment allows me to send both SKY digital and terrestrial signals around the house by way of a loft amplifier.
Will there be any interference or reception issues if I simply put the Freeview output signal into the amplifier to replace the analogue signal?
