As an update to the original plan (see Freeview channel numbers change on September 19th 2012) - the changes to Freeview this week will now be less extensive than planned, as two channels have appealed the changes.

The main changes are shown in this diagram below. You will need to do a "first time installation" to ensure the channel numbers are correct. See My Freeview box has no EPG ... or the channel line up is wrong if you don't know what to do. Another option is the list of retune instruction leaflets and manuals on the Freeview Retune - list of manuals page.

I have made enquies and it is not the MAJOR clean up of the silly numbers Freeview have now.
It is only minor changes like Robert Hill posted, all are stations I do not watch and therfore not noticed these few changes.

This is what I official found out as happened.

"Dave (from 19 to 12)

o Really (from 20 to 17)

o Yesterday (from 12 to 19)

o Gold (from 17 to 20) TopUp TV service

o Food Network (from 49 to 48)

o Jewellery Channel (from 60 to 49)

Text and streamed channels genres allocated LCNs 200 to 299 "

So we stii got 1 etc.and not 101 etc. like other plateforms and ITV stations all over the place etc.

Today's Retune has been total and all regular channels have been renumbered. For example BBC 1 is now at 895 and BBC 1 Wales is now 1.
I have also lost all scheduled record settings.
How do I get my original channel numbers back?

@Chris

Sounds like you're picking up signals from a different transmitter and that has confused your reciever. What you need to do is pull the lead out so that you're getting no signal at all and do a rescan so that you blank all channels. Then find out the channel numbers that each multiplex is being transmitted on (look it up on the site here), and do a manual retune just on those channels. That's what I have to do with my Humax PVR to make sure it locks on to the right transmitter - The TV is usually fine, but the PVR always seems to get confused. If you're unsure how to do a manual retune, check your TV/box's instructions and they'll tell you how.
