To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Can anyone help, we are in the Winter Hill signal area, prior to 10 April no problems with reception. However, although retuned a number of times, both automatically and manually, had a problem with BBC channels i.e. no signal or low signal and bad reception. Following day able to view BBC no problem, day later no BBC channels. We have retuned a number of times and tried reset to 'shipping condition' and still no joy. At our wits end - what more can we do?

Sorry, perhaps should add it is merely a Panasonic digital tv - no freeview box, satellite etc connected. If that helps!

Dave: If your receiver permits manual tuning try to enter C50 for the BBC channels and C49 for ArqA (Sky News etc) Note the signal strength and quality for each frequency before pressing "store" if any channels are found. If you are using a communal aerial it might be necessary for the landlord or building management company responsible for the aerial to arrange for an engineer to make adjustments to the filters to allow the adopted frequencies to be received.

glenn: Have you allowed the TV long enough to populate the guide? as unfortunately many TV's including the excellent Panasonic models can take quite a considerable time to fill the programme guide in, this sometimes being as long as 30 minutes or so and thats just to indicate the next 24 hours.

You should select Freesat and try the guide test on that mode, as usually (but not always) programme guides on the Freesat mode are populated considerably faster.

Will say though, that these guides are totally dependant on the broadcasters having sent out the information in the first place.

Since retuning our T.V./Freeview box on 10th April and many times since, also unplugging both and removing aerial from box as suggested we have no "programme guide" instead 'no event information against every programme, we cannot set the box to record a programme unless we are already watching it!Please help

Richard: Try carrying out a "factory reset" on your box, this also being called "default setting" "reinstall all services" or "first time installation" as the receivers tuner has to be wiped clean of anything stored in its memory and the aforementioned procedure is the only effective way of doing this.
