My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Sian : Knowledge of the model number involved would have been of assistance, however I would advise you "not" to delete anything concerned with the data in reserved section of the HDD as this could render the device to the proverbial scrap heap.
If you haven't already done so, you should place the device into standby for about 15 seconds or so before disconnecting it from the mains, this then followed by reconnecting it again after about 30 seconds and waiting until the HDD had completed the process of initialising, checking the result of this action after it does.
If the situation is found not to have been resolved then about the only thing left to try is reformatting the HDD, the downside to this being that it will delete the programmes previously stored in it.

I have lost channels 4, More 4, 4+1, E4 and E4+1, from the epg on my alba box from next Saturday 21st June. I have done full retunes both with the aerial connected and disconnected and each time I do this, the epg picks up all the programmes on these channels up to Friday, then shows blank for subsequent days. I can view all the channels with no problem, but of course I can't record.
Any solution?

Joe Wale: Welcome to the wonderful wold of the Bush/Goodmans set-top box...
My bet is that your mum lives in the Waltham area, but her aerial sort of faces Belmont as well (this is my situation). The box does not do manual tuning, so when it looks for a transmitter, it will find the lowest Channel number first. Belmont is lower than Waltham, so thats the first one it finds.
Follow the instructions above, and clear the channels completely. Others on theis site then suggest leaving out the aerial lead for about the first 30% of the scan, and then sticking it in, and let the box find the right transmitter. At the end of the setup it will sometimes ask you to set the region - if its not on Waltham it makes no difference what you chose, your not getting East Midlands. Trial and error is your best method, and once it does say 'East Midlands' when you it tells you what transmitter its on, never ever retune it . It will update itself, so unless you are told to retune, just leave it alone.
As you can tell, I am delighted with my Goodmans box...

Mandy Powell: Your problem is most likely being caused by the engineering work that is being carried out in the area, four relays being involved and with Dawlish being one of them.
Any breaks in transmission that may take place should only be of a very short term nature.

From Joyce , Till recently we were receiving full freeview coverage in the KA9 region of South Ayrshire, I believe we are served by the Darvel transmitter, now we can only get all bbc channels only certain stv and channel 4 stations. Is this a common occurrence, or is there something wrong with my ariel.

Joyce Hodgeson: I suggest that this might be something you will have to live with. The reason is that the COM channels (those you've lost) don't have as good a coverage as the PSB ones (those you have). Some transmitters don't carry the COMs and where others do they are unavailable or intermittent due to interference from another transmitter on the same frequencies. In your case the COMs of Divis, which is the main transmitter which serves Belfast and other eastern parts of Northern Ireland, are on the same frequencies. Unsurprisingly, others along the coast have reported the same problem, or worse. It depends on how well the unwanted signals travel. Don't retune or they may be lost from your set totally and you will have to carry out repeated retunes in order to restore them (when they become available again).

There is a strange fault that has developed on a HD Box? If the back-up button is pressed more than once it goes into the EPG? Is this a fault or is it something that SKY itself has done. Also can it be revered or disabled in anyway as it is a nuisance
