To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Sagem hd mt190 looses EPG data Intermitantly, recovers by retuning but once box turned off looses data again. signal only showing as 40% but. HD TV attached shows as 100%. Could this be the reason why? Also don't understand how TV can show as 100% if box attached to only shows 40%? Any ideas much appreciated!

We experience poor/no reception on ITV1/Channel4/Channel5 at various times. There seems to be some sort of interference from an audio channel.
This happening as I write.
Yesterday we had the same problem between 12.00 and 2.00pm but everything was OK by 4.00pm
We are at CR8 5EU

Hi,
I seem to have lost all bbc only channels from 2 television sets connected to bbc west transmitter.
they both function on bbc hd ok but not on normal bbc1&2.all other channels ok. i have 2 other tv sets
connected to the mendip transmitter and these function perfectly well. I have retuned the problem sets but to no avail.still only get bbc on hd .As the other 2 that are receiving bbc from the other transmitter could this indicate a transmission problem?
Regards
Jim

james wright : You havn't given a postcode, so we have no idea what that transmitter is. But its unlikely a transmitter would be out for that long, so its probably your aerial system. The bad weather might have included rain? Rain and dodgy cabling = bad signal.

MRS B MURTHA: Indications seen on reception predictor are that your area is not particular favourable as far as Freeview reception is concerned, the location in question being covered by the Overstrand Freeview "light" PSB only transmitter located @ 0.5 miles away on a bearing of 129 degrees, the Freeview "light" service offering a somewhat restricted range of programme channels by "not" transmitting the full range of commercial channels available from main stations, e.g: (10) ITV3 / (20) Drama / (11) Pick TV etc / (18) 4Music, as reception predictors are not by their very nature 100% accurate, can you confirm (or otherwise) that the aforementioned programme channels are "not" receivable on "Freeview".

However, the BBC services should be in both the lounge and bedroom, therefore if its OK in the lounge but not the bedroom then the question has to be, do you have a socket in the bedroom? or is it supplied via some form of extension lead from the lounge?, or are you trying one of those "same room" type of aerials? as these devices are totally unsuitable for use in areas such as yours.

Also, you mention having limited aerial feeds in the property but that you can get Sky, is there a Sky outlet socket in the bedroom? this identified by a threaded stub protruding from a wall mounted outlet point.

Further advice dependant on feedback.

For the last week I've been experiencing poor picture quality and occasional sound drop-outs on certain Freeview channels, including BBC1 to BBC4 and Dave. The ITV and Channel 4channels seem to be unaffected. I have two TVs, and the problem affects both in the same way. My postcode is so43 7JN, and I think my aerial is pointed at the transmitter on the Isle of White. I've had the same aerial set-up for several years, and have made no changes to it. Before I start looking for a physical problem with the aerial or cabling (which is in a hard-to-reach position on the roof), are there any other checks or tests I can perform to try to pinpoint the possible cause?

Many thanks in advance.

Denis

I have repeated issues will all BBC channels being disrupted (broken up and frozen images) despite going through full re-set procedures as described above. IIs this likely to be an issue with my cheap supermarket TV with built-in Freeview, a cable issue or any other suggestions?

My house was retired and all new coax cables only 2 years ago...

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Simon
