Hi. For me to help you, just think of your problem and answer each question in turn. First, are you seeing the words "No Signal" or "Technical fault" on the TV screen?

Alan Jones: Do you have a Samsung series 7/8 with twin Freeview HD tuners? They are equiped with an extra tuner, but frankly, most people just watch using the main tuner, and record on a seperate box.

Your fine for Belmont or Waltham - just let the TV manually tune, and it should sort out everything for you (there is a 100 degree difference in the bearing). Since your in Boston, I suspect Waltham would be better for East Midlands news. You'll need to go through the manual to find out how to chose the secondary turner to record, and attach the right sort of external drive. You shouldn't need to tune into particular muxes at all. Frankly, you can see why its generally easier to use a seperate box.

Briantist:
I was shown your new layout on my laptop and didn't like it at all! Plus some of the more useful elements, such as the "Most Popular" listing was missing!

Please ensure that we retain these features on all devices.

Gill: This website is for technical help with TV and radio reception problems and is independent of any broadcaster. There are links to watch online via the channels own website which can be found at the top of each channel's page on this site (for channels where such a facility exists).

Hi. We are about to move to a new build house in Broughton Crossing.. Bierton. Aylsbury HP225AR. It would seem that we are out to the range of the nearest free view transmitter (Chesham) and on the edge or just outside of thre Crystal palace mast. I wish to purchase an aerial prior to moving in so we can keep the kids quiet . Can you suggest which mast we should point the aerial at and what band should it be. Thanks in advance for your help. P.S. Great web site.

Ray: Although Digital UK's reception predictor indicates that the area in question is covered by both Oxford @ 17miles / 262 degrees and Sandy Heath @ 31miles /47 degrees, however, a Megalithia terrain check on both stations reveals that the signal path from Sandy suffers from multiple line-of-sight obstructions starting from approximately 15miles prior to the given location, therefore I would be inclined to favour Oxford for reception.

As far as aerials are concerned, I would recommend using an aerial of the Log Periodic variety such as a Log 36, as this type of aerial will cover any future changes to the frequencies used for DTT transmission, the other bonus being that it incorporates protection against any possible interference from 4G transmissions.

Under is a link to a supplier of the aerial referred to, just scroll down to the appropriate section.

Absolutely fantastic site and great resource.

I've been in the maps menu and clicked on All masts.

I see a list but not a map. Is that correct? Is there a place I can see all transmitters rendered on a map?

Thanks

My samsung TV momentarily "blinks" frequently when watching HD channels. I have discovered that this is when the Freeview transmission switches from 1080i to 1080p and vice versa (according to the TV's signal/channel information).
I am on the Heathfield transmitter and RH16 3RX postcode. I have 99% signal strength and 100% quality. Samsung H8000 series TV.
Why does the transmission signal switch between 1080p and 1080i?
