To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

E?turner: Although you say the signal strength is excellent - check all the muxes, since its likely a mux has a problem, rather than anything else. Mostly likely problem is a dodgy aerial cable, so swap it out and see if they are any better.

I have a toshiba dvdb box through which i get my freeview channels my tv is a 26 inch samsung hd tv yet i dont seem to be getting programmes in 180i format its always 720i is there a reason for this?
the current signal information is quality 83/84% signal strength 38%.
where my ariel is on the house there is a tree right beside it and this may be blocking the signal.
is there anything i can do to get the dvb box to show the picture in 180i instead of 720 or will the signal improve once the tree drops its leaves?
the signal strength/pic quality is more or less the same on all channels is there any reason why am not getting bbc1 2 itv and c4 in hd which is supposedly available through the relay transmitter here in cupar fife

DONALD KIRKBRIDE: The HD channels are found on numbers 101-115, what do you get if you go to channel 101? What are the model numbers of your Toshiba box and Samsung TV? To receive HD channels on Freeview you need a receiver with a DVB-T2 tuner (usually labelled Freeview HD) - a TV that says HD Ready isn't enough as this only indicates that the screen is able to display a HD picture from a HDMI input.

@ steve onlin1 Ive now found that if i play a dvd it changes to 180i then when i stop the disc the setting remains in 180i on all the tv channels
strange that playing a dvd changes the setting dont you think?

DONALD KIRKBRIDE: I suspect that what you are seeing is the picture being upscaled to 1080i by the DVD player as DVDs don't support 1080i video. As per my last post, please tell us the make and model of the TV and DVD player so that we can establish whether either have a DVB-T2 tuner, giving you the capability to watch HD channels.

Cupar

The tv is a SAMSUNG LE 26R 74 BD it has analogue and freeview tuning so suspect it was one of the early sets made before freeview became the norm the freeview tuner does not tune in anything and used a freeview box at first then got the toshiba dvd box which is a DVB RD-97-DT-K-TB
I got the tv at a local charity which sells white goods tv's and furniture for 16 it says DNi DVB SRS on the front panel, the dvb box i got off a friend of mine for a straight swop for a brand new power supply unit i had bought for my previous computer but had never used it as the motherboard on the computer went
hope the above is sufficent information my post code is KY15 5EN and my signal comes off the relay transmitter here in cupar though when i go onto the signal strength section it says highlands and islands for some reason

DONALD KIRKBRIDE: Neither your Samsung TV or Toshiba DVD/HDD recorder have a DVB-T2 tuner which explains why you aren't receiving HD channels. You need a receiver with the Freeview HD logo, such as the Manhattan HD-T2 (currently 39.99 on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/…WGM) then you'll get HD channels on Freeview. Cupar broadcasts BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD, STV HD, Channel 4 HD, Channel 5 HD & CBBC HD - although the predcition for your postcode shows that you should be able to receive far more if you changed your aerial to receive Angus.

Since moving to Brighton from London I have lost some Freeview channels. Specifically 10, 20, 21, 30 and 70. I have tried re-tuning several times but although the channels start the picture then breaks up.
Any suggestions?

Michael Hill: Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitter you're using and where you are in relation to it, along with your predicted signal strength etc. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? What are your signal strength and quality readings for the channels that are breaking up? You should be able to find our from your TV's menu.
