Eileen: no. In the event that the tuner indicates no signal, carrying out a retune often causes the required channels to be deleted completely from the channel list or replaced with an option from an alternative transmitter, which is likely to result in unreliable reception of the affected channels. If the tuner has a manual tuning option do a signal check by selecting the frequency of the psb 2 mux and without pressing "store" noting the signal strength and quality. Repeat this process for a mux with working channels, say psb 1 to compare signals. Further advice can be given depending on the result. If you state your postcode, or that of a nearby shop a check can be made of which services are available at your location together with the frequencies that are in use.

Liam: If the coverage checker shows good reception to be possible from both Tay Bridge and Angus the signal available to your tv tuner will be governed by the position/polarisation/orientation and group of the aerial connected to it. Subject to there not being any local obstructions in the signal path, such as trees or tall buildings, reception from Angus will require a group T aerial set for horizontal polarisation and pointing to the Angus mast. Back in the days of analogue transmissions Tay Bridge was the preferred option for viewers who could receive both transmitters as only Tay Bridge radiated Channel 5.

Anita Shilvock: Assuming that the aerial connection in your mother's apartment is being fed with a suitable signal from the communal aerial, it would appear that the transmitter chosen to serve the care home is different to that used previously for you mother's tv. It is possible that weaker signals from The Wrekin or Ridge Hill are being found and the frequencies stored at the start of the scan, then the correct ones are overlooked as duplicates. Alternatively the tv tuner might be one which retains information previously stored until a "delete all channels" or a factory reset/return to shipping conditions is selected from the menu to purge the tuner of unwanted information. Initially try scanning for channels with no aerial connected to see if the tuner is cleared of all channels. Once the tuner is clear try performing a retune. If this again results in incorrect channel storage it will be necessary to insert the transmitter channels manually or retune with the aerial unplugged whilst the scan passes over the frequencies used by unwanted transmitters in order to avoid them, plugging it back in for the required signals. In either case you will need to check which transmitter is being used by the communal aerial in order to work out which set of frequencies are required. Sutton Coldfield requires the aerial to be mounted with the rods horizontal, Brierley Hill however will require the rods to be vertical. Further information can be given if required.

Jemma: check that there is an aerial connected to the lead feeding the aerial socket on the wall, if this is the arrangement in your home. Sometimes the cable end is found to be coiled up in the loft! A cable connected to a satellite dish will not be suitable for freeview reception (applies if a former occupant used a sky box to supply their tv channels). Another thing to check is that the tv tuner is not storing channels from Rowridge, having found them first in the scan, when the aerial is pointing to Hannington. A look at google streetview suggests that many aerials in the area are pointing to Hannington.

Jsvirdee: Punjab radio is now carried on the sdl multiplex on block 11A. This is transmitted from Sutton Coldfield and Turners Hill in the West Midlands. On some receivers it may be necessary to manually select block 11A or select a full scan of band III in order to tune in the frequency of this new multiplex.

Trevor Wootton: many of the listeners in the Wrekin service area might be able to receivea dab signals from Winter Hill/Alsagers Bank/Sutton Coldfield/Turners Hill for block 11A.

MikeD: there are no plans at present to expand the coverage of the recently launched SDL multiplex, the new home of Planet Rock. If they were to extend coverage in the future Carmel would be the next site likely to be equipped in South Wales as this would extend the service area from Swansea.

Dave Lindsay: V ision make a group A log periodic which would be preferable for reception from Caldbeck, it is a class 2 rather than the class 4 wideband version.
