Dont worry Brian Gregory.Once the high pressure fades so does the atmospherics/inversion effect.I am partly suffering from it but im not complaining.Im lucky because although Belmont is coming and going and i use Belmont for BBCA & D3+4 multiplexes (BBC1 EY&L 800,ITV1 Y&L 821 and ITV1+1 Y&L 830) my normal mast Emley Moor is at present largely unaffected, plus when Emley Moor is totally off air (end Jan 2012 for 2 hours) i use all the Belmont multiplexes in an emergency.I even picked up analogue Crystal Palace,Heathfield and Dover transmissions earlier and still here while typing this.Plus for good measure i even picked up the all digital transmissions of Waltham and the Sandy Heath D3+4 mux on ch 24.And yes i even recorded the late Central News bulletin from Waltham and most of the ITV+1 late Anglia News bulletin from Sandy Heath one hour later, both recording still on my freeview+ box.So sometimes inversion does have its disadvantages such as temporary losses of signal but also does have its advantages such as temporary gain of far way transmissions you normally do not get.All i can say is dont despair just put up with it,i do and it cannot be helped as such !

John Illy.Nearly but not quite. After Crystal Palace goes all digital there is still the transmitters of Heathfield,Bluebell Hill,Dover,Bilsdale,Pontop Pike,Chatton,Divis,Brougher Mountain,Limavady still presently broadcasting analogue and lower powered pre-DSO signals to contend with until the three Northern Ireland/Ulster main transmitters (the last three mentioned above) all go fully digital simultaneously on Wednesday 24 October 2012.So until then inversion issues may still happen and even after Wednesday 24 October 2012 is still not guaranteed but hopefully TV wise should be less of a problem and hopefully possibly disappear altogether. As the saying goes "Believe it when i see it" after the UK television airwaves goes all digital after Wednesday 24 October 2012 will be to ascertain whether the inversion issues really will be a thing of the past or will they still occur but less problematic or get worse (unlikely) is to watch, wait and see.Dont forget analogue radio is still several years away from total switch off and there signals too can still suffer with inversion issues for many years still to come.

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Madeline,Leeds. You have tuned to Bilsdale as you stated you receive bad analogue reception and no digital reception as such as the lower powered pre-DSO signals from Bilsdale is currently insufficient to cover your location. Is it Emley Moor transmissions you require and if so your aerial will lead to be realigned from Emley Moor as such.Bilsdale on the other hand switches over on Wednesday 12 (DSO1) & 26 (DSO2) September 2012.

Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) transmitter

Derek Green. If you reside in a strong/medium reception area within Rowridge itself then a group W wideband aerial on an all group A frequencied transmitter such as Rowridge is ok.It is only in a weak/poor/marginal signal area within an all group A transmitter again Rowridge being an example, plus the likes of Crystal Palace,Durris,Caradon Hill, etc, that a group W wideband aerial are not really recommended due to their inferior response on the lowest frequencies such as low signal gain and occasional pixellations and worse still sometimes unable to receive multiplexes as such, common with cheap inferior contract aerials. If as you state it works for you, dont change it !

Brenda. The answer is that we cannot be of valuable assistance to you if you do not leave either a full postcode or nearby location as such.
