Alan: No, they don't come on air until some time next year.

Jill Kynaston: I would think the only problem you might have is too strong a signal, which can appear to exhibit the same symptoms as too little signal.

Unplug the aerial lead and hold it a few centimetres from the socket. Give it a few seconds and see if it comes back. If it does then I suggest you fit an attenuator to the aerial lead in order to reduce the strength.

Roger Young: Mendip's COM7 (which carries BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, BBC News HD and Al Jazeera HD does not come on air until some time next year - no date is given by Digital UK.

John Dyas: Whilst it's possible, don't assume that because one or more channels are working that they all would be expected to be. This is because different frequencies get affected differently.

What you should do is bypass your amplifier by connecting the feed from the aerial to the feed going to one of the rooms.

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Peter Brennan: No. Even if you did need a filter it should be fitted into the aerial system and it is therefore out of your control.

The system is probably filtered so as to only allow through the channels used by the transmitter. As channel 32 has never been used by Emley before then that might explain why you can't receive it.

You will need to get in touch with the party responsible, such as the landlord. However, when the Made in Leeds comes on air on C56 in February and when COM8 comes on air on C34 (date unknown) the same issue will come up.

Darren: BBC Three HD is carried on the same multiplex (same signal) as the four pre-existing HD services from BBC, ITV/STV/UTV and Channel 4.

Without knowledge of your location it's not possible to answer such an open-ended question. The new multiplex isn't available everywhere and in some cases it isn't on air yet. Communal aerial systems may need adjustment.

BBC Four

Bryn Harris: The new multiplex from Crystal Palace transmitter is on lower power than the other multiplexes.

Try a manual tune on UHF channel 33 (570MHz), setting the mode to DVB-T2 rather than DVB-T, if there is such a setting. Having entered the channel number/frequency, wait and see if it gives any indication of strength and quality.

John Herbert: If you're referring to Heathfield, then no it doesn't broadcast these new HD channels and isn't likely to.

The HD services it carries are available from all transmitters, these being BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, BBC Three HD, CBBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD.

Darren: You're in a block of flats so I assume you're using a communal aerial system. Perhaps the system requires adjustment to allow the frequency of the new HD multiplex through, this being C33. C33 was used previously for BBC Two analogue so perhaps once that stopped the system was adjusted to block C33.

Go to the manual tune screen and selected C33 and DVB-T2 mode and see what you get.
